Press enter to submit a post in quick reply.
In 'Go Advanced' and while creating a new thread you would still have to click the button, and pushing enter would go down a line like normal.


In quick replies:
To shift down a line, shift+enter.
To post press enter.

The only issue I can see with this is people accidentally posting early, which can easily be fixed up by an edit or if people are careful. Over time people would adjust.
Thoughts?

 

I feel like this would be annoying to adjust to and I wouldn't use it. I wouldn't want to have to use "go advanced" (I never use it) just to go back to posting the way I usually do.

 

No support as honestly I don't really see there to be a need for this. It's fine as it is IMO.

 

Thought it'd be quite handy! And when people adjust it'd just feel nicer in my opinion.

I think it would be a useful feature. I liked it when it was implemented on other sites I use regularly. I think it's a good idea that can be worked on.

 

nah. sometimes websites with the enter to post button get annoying when you accidentally hit it mid sentance

 

Definitely no support. By accident we'll press enter because we got used to it, we'll forget to add thread icons etc and mods will have even more work.

 

I think this sort of feature is very useful for IMing, but not for forum posting. Sorry pal, no support.

 

^My thoughts exactly, I don't think it would be super useful in this environment. Having to hold down shift + enter to jump to a new line would be a pain in the balls as well.

 

No support, ALT + Enter for a new line break is better for IMs, not posts.

Accidental posts would happen alot.
Forums don't usually work like that, there's no "enter to post" as its a feature more designed to quick chat apps or livechat.

It would be hard for the current forum users because they'd be used to the older way, and it would be hard for new users since on other forums there's nothing like this and they'll just use this one as any other regular forum, therefore making accidental posts.

In my opinion, of course.

 

I feel like if people can post just by pressing enter they aren't really putting enough thought into the post... It's a forum not a IMing site.
