Textboxes like in User center

Hey
Today I got an idea of making things look smiliar to User Center features
First of all, I'm programming/coding newbie so I'm not sure if it can be implemented to Sythe but it's worth a try

So in user center when we drag our cursor on icons nice black box appears with short description of item


On forums we need to wait 2-3 seconds until something ugly in white box appears




So, my suggestion is implement smiliar thing to forums so textboxes will display faster and will have better look like they're in UI
Maybe short description of icons like Staff ranks, fun-ranks , OMM ranks, donor ranks could be added to

everything is pretty self explanatory.. what can be explained in a title thats named "100$ donor"?

 

Just few words description like
$100 Donor
This user has donated $100 to Sythe.org
OMM
This user is Official Middleman accepted by Sythe staff after finishing application.
RuneScape mod
RuneScape moderator is responsible for moderating RuneScape forums, checking scam, spam reports and voting in disputes.
Funranks
This Rank is given out by Administrators for *something*
S.U.V
Sythe verified user means Sythe staff has real life information and phone number of everyone with this rank

 

That sounds like it would be pretty easy to do, and worth a try!

 

Have to admit it does sound like a good idea. and if we were to expand on the main idea it would make the forums even more sleek and user friendly

My only concern is load times. I'm assuming the implementation of this would require some sort of Javascript and thus would likely increase page load times. I can't see why we can't just continue using the same HTML descriptions as we have been for quite some time.

Honestly just sounds annoying to me - it'd pop up all the time and do my head in lol. Everyone would just turn it off eventually I'm sure. And we all learned what everything was alright so why cant others - there are ample guides and stickies

Not necessary. I think they are pretty self explanatory as is. As Roary said, we all figured out what they mean/are so if people really care, it's not hard to find out.

+ Those hover over descriptions that appear over miniranks are simply their saved image name on the server (I think). They aren't separate made such as the user centre.

Generally I'll support even the smallest of improvements but I can't bring myself to support this. The loading times aren't 2-3 seconds as you say (its instant for me) and I think that the white textbox looks perfectly fine with the theme that we have, a black one would be a bit out of place.
