I think it's fair to say that the whole community here doesn't support scammers.

I am horrified when reading this thread to see that you both agreed on a transaction and prepre193 (seller) says his "job is complete", while you (as buyer) have not received the goods you paid for.

Proof are needed.

If you post some proof about this here, we (the community) will be more than happy to ensure mods ban prepre193 for good.

I certainly can't say about getting your money back, but you would certainly get back at him (if you were scammed) by getting him banned.

Interestingly enough, an emergency situation popped up soon after my debate with him. I went to Fry's food and drugs and when I did cash in the Western Union check after giving him the information, the funds were already frozen and under pending investigation for fraud. So running back to home to attempt to log onto Dead Frontier. I guess he was purchasing the account for a replacement of his banned account because at that moment, my account was also locked permanently for his IP ban. After a thorough discussion with the moderators, it was finally determined that another user simply hacked into my account from a different state.
Yes. Western Union does deal with frauds. Many people think Western Union is both a way to scam and a way to get scammed, but there are complications that can rise out of the payment method.

I never gave him his money back. He froze the funds and I was never even able to retrieve the funds.

Please understand that anyone in his right mind would question the legitimacy of the seller.

Thanks to have brought light to the history of this 1year thread. If money is squared out between seller and buyer, the ban looks like a very strange coincidence and means the account advertised for sale here is tainted.

I remain highly skeptical, but wish you good luck for selling.

It is very true that a ban does look fishy and that is a logical conclusion, but I firmly believe that I have kept a good relation with the moderators, and they were happy to help me with the case. Accounts do get hacked from time to time, and their security is obviously not the best in the world. So it made sense that perhaps I was "hacked". Regardless, I placed the blatant facts out and it is up to the buyer to decide. As I've said a year ago, I don't care for Dead Frontier, so I'm perfectly content with leaving the account sitting here.

I, in fact, have no issues with online Western Union, or in branch Western Union. The security for Western Union goes both ways. While the seller has the chance to take the money and run away, the buyer also has the chance to report the case to the local law enforcement agency. Obviously, I was not willing to take the risk. I did call Western Union customer support, and they have stated that it depends on the state laws whether if the local law enforcement agency will take any kind of action. And as long as I have evidence ready, then I should be fine, but the money was frozen by the time I reached it and they have no right to release the funds to me at that time anyways.

In the case with my account selling. I tried my best to ensure a smooth transaction, but it is unfortunate the trade did not work out. In the end, I do not believe that I have scammed anyone as I did not received my part at all.

Nold, I would also like to point out that perhaps the buyer had an intention to buy an account after his account was banned. When the IP permanent ban is issued, all subsequent accounts that log onto that specific IP address will also be immediately banned and blacklisted.

It also somewhat contradicts itself: in the first paragraph, you say the account was banned because it got hacked into.
In the second paragraph, you say the account got banned because a player with a banned ip logged into it.

I don't believe in the hacking part for 2 reasons:
1- Dead Frontier doesn't get hacked. It's always the same: it's players who gave away they login details (by installing a software or entering login/password in a "get free credits" site) and get surprized someone entered their account. Hacking would mean dealing with a hacker, not with a kiddie that copy/paste what you provide
2- the coincidence is just too big: you are closing the sell of a dead frontier account online by sharing it's login/password and all of a sudden some activity occur in the account that isn't triggered by you.

I would guess that you provided all the correct information to login to this buyer, that he did logged in successfully, extending his IP ban to this account. But the buyer was never able to enjoy the account because he was greeted by the same ban message he received in his other accounts and IP.
Nothing to do with hacking.

Going further into my interpretation:
When you didn't get the money you tried to log in the account and received the same ban message. You presented this story to the game's moderation team under the angle of "I don't know what happened, but I'm banned; I was probably hacked". Leaving purposefully aside the fact that you gave out the account details in the context of selling it away.
You got lucky that one mod acted on your complain and lifted the ban.

From my perspective, you did an OK job as a seller, you were just unlucky with the buyer you had; this experience damaged the goods you are selling: mods have a solid system to see account history, with a special focus on the banned one.

If I may I would recommend you to accept paypal in addition of western union + lower the price (to $300-$400) get a quick clean sell.
