So basically, you made money off of someone being naive and are boasting about how good of a guy you are?

Meh, a good guy would have told him that you're indeed bending him over and fucking him hard.

 

Dude, at that time on RuneScape you could not pay more for them because of a trade limit. Also at that time I did not even know that they are worth that much, I knew that they are worth more than that but I did not know how much for sure. It was not that easy, because you could not just sell gold. Also, before selling them I had them for quite a while. After Spyike made a thread where he was buying wines only then I got to know how much they are worth, because at that time there were only a few people buying them.

 

Lovely read! "Successful trade stories" should be a thing, I'd love to read more like this.

Interesting read. I've always had a desire to hold discontinued items but it's still so insane how an item that's not even displayable (like wearable) is worth so much :O!

 

Can't say many people would have given up those wines when they already had 10k cash.....

Anyone who is willing to buy 8 "Half wines" for that value has to know they were "worth" something more. It's called merchanting. You did your searches, and noticed this guy didn't do his. Don't bullshit.

And frankly, they sold for 1b+ ea at the time you bought them.

They only inflated in value because someone is literally hoarding over 30 of them, and selling 'em 1 by 1 slowly.

 

Read my post again, I knew that they were rare, the guy knew that as well, but he was like ''whatever''. However, I did not know their real value at that time. The guy though that they were worth a lot, I though that they were worth more than that, but it turned out that they were worth even more than I was thinking. And at the end their price increased even more. Pretty much no one knew the real price at that time, because there was a trade limit and their price skyrocketed after the introduction of free trade. Thank you.

Before free trade they were worth 1b+ so you're telling me once "trade value" came into picture the black market prices of everything just managed to slip everyone's mind?

I don't need to argue it, all you needed to do prior to your search is go to "Forums" and type in the item and notice they were selling for 1b+ at the time.

 

Some people believed that they can only get extra profit if they add junk and sell it with a rare or if they exchange it to another rare. That's how some people sold some of their rares pretty cheap. I had to add some stuff in order to get them myself too. How you could sell them for 1B if there was no free trade? Trade for phats etc.? Yes, but that's not a real money price, it's just an in-game value. It's easy to say that now, because now we know what happened afterwards. Also, most of the players are now familiar with the blackmarket, but it was not like that back in a day. I was actually one of those optimistic people, those who were pessimistic were commentating in my thread and saying that they are never going to be worth more etc. I can't actually remember much from that time, because it was a while ago, so I can't remember all the details.
