How do you stay motivated to play?

Ive been playing runescape for idk probably since the 5th grade, not sure, i turned 16 today , anyways, i always wonder how people stay so motivated to grind the skills to 99, after all the years ive played ive never gotten a 99 because i cant stay focused on one skill, so what motivates you guys to still play?

 

it's terrible now, honestly I gave it a real go last month and there is nothing but PvM.

 

One of the only things in Rs I still enjoy is doing dungeoneering. Basically getting faster floors every time and becoming better at this skill keeps me motivated.

 

i go for 99's, next day i give up.Idk how people can do the same thing over and over all day. just bot

 

I quit because I no longer enjoyed it and it was a massive waste of time.

If you're not enjoying it, you should certainly quit.

 

This. or take an extended break till you have the urge to play again. Runescape is like my cigarette when I get really stressed due to exams I crave it just to wind down but once the stress is gone I really don't have the urge to play again.

 

If you're having to look for reasons to stay, just leave. I tried telling myself I was having fun, that I was enjoying it, and I ended up just wasting like 6 months trying to play something that I didn't enjoy at all.. PvM and Slayer were always my favorite things to do, so if you've exhausted all your other options, give RS a break.

 

I left 3 years ago and have no intentions of returning. The idea of someone forcing themselves to play a game just to try and stay motivated to play it sounds pretty sad.

 

My motivation is that I'm gaining so much xp per day, that's it's exciting. I also have a drive that once I put my mind to something there's no stopping me from achieving it.

 

by botting, lol.

 

I'm really close to comp cape, just need a 5 more dg lvls and a few divination levels. So I login everyday to do sinkholes and the world event to get lamps for divination.

 

You shouldn't need motivation to play a game that's sole purpose is entertainment. If you're doing it for monetary gains, then the motivation is said monetary gains/what you'd use those gains for.

If you're asking yourself, why should I play this game? (and if it's not the above monetary gains), then there really isn't any reason to play. As I said, you're playing for fun/enjoyment; that should come naturally by playing, not by having to convince yourself and or find motivation.

 

Just quit bro, your RL will improve significantly.

 

Though I no longer play , my motivation was that I've played this game since 2004 why quit now. Alot of childhood memories are still attached. I would like to come back , but don't have any motivation.

 

my only motivation is that i have the rarest account in runescape and thats the only thing that keeps me going to acheive 99's

 

Never really been motivated to get a 99 since like 2009. That was the last time I got a 99 legitimately.

 

I don't get this at all, why?

 

I COULDNT AGREE MORE! back 2yrs ago i couldnt think of anything other than rsing, it was so worth playing, but now?! even 07 blows, i made a brand new acc got it to almost maxed zerker than just botted on it till it was banned, because i was that bored...rs gp is too cheap to buy, so its like u spent 3days getting a 20m drop, which 2 yrs ago would of been a 100m drop...all they care about is GRAPHICS, notice thats only thing improving, theres no pvp on rs3, i mean you might as well play wow...so sad

 

Ignore him, he thinks Runescape is a drug!!!
