Is the government like Big Brother?

If you read 1984 maybe you can relate but do you think that the government is watching us and doing things to change how we think? For example with the Boston marathon bombing when they were searching for the second suspect, was it fine to take the right of people's privacy when they were searching people's homes for a killer ? The government is basically taking people's rights away when they have the chance, same thing can be said about the Newtown shootings and gun Laws, and 9/11 and airport security. I hope this all makes sense and sorry for my runoff sentences lol.

I'm pretty sure if it happens in America it affects the whole world in general on way or another.

 

Didn't they pass some internet bill that watches over us and build big ass facilities in the desert to store all the information?

Not trying to start a conspiracy theory because I already think the government did it.

And yea they watch over us like hawks, most people are just unaware of it.

 

You totally got a point, you can't say anything online anymore or they will come knocking on your door the next morning.. We aren't as free as we thought ..

 

I'm surprised you didn't mention the NSA collecting phone records from major telecommunication companies, or that they use Google cookies to track potential threats, or the recent controversy over the U.S. government's surveillance of foreign leaders.

 

I'm so hip, give them another 20 years and watch them have cameras inside our very own homes.. We can't do anything about it is the sad thing..

 

They have camera's on our streets and drones flying over our sky's. In NY they can give you a ticket for speeding while using the camera's and zooming in on your face and taking a photo of you and mail the bill to your house.

There is no safe spot your controlled regardless is you realize it or not.

Well they shield themselves with "we do this to protect our people" but in fact I believe they're actually spying on us to prevent a revolution maybe.
I know it sounds far-fetched but that's my opinion.

 

They make us think it's for our own good but whole time we are blinded that they are makings us weak so that eventually we can't do anything to them or fight back? Like they are taking our rights to have guns? Etc etc

 

That's exactly why what I personally believe even if it does sound stupid. That's the only reason i bought an AR15. Since Obama took office I've noticed that ammo is hard to get and it's price as really gone up. With the way things are going right now I should buy a few more because eventually in my life time you won't be able to get them anymore.

 

That's how I feel too, after I read this book my whole outlook on everything changed and it really makes you doublethink everything.

Reminds me of in psychology my teacher explained how kids want to be able to decide on their own so parents would let them decide between certain choices so the kid thinks he decided. Little does he know his choices were already limited so whichever he chose the parent is fine.

We humans want to have order and be told what to do. We are being watched but not to the extremity where the people would have a big problem and do something crazy...yet.

 

Nice example, someone can right one good ass research paper on all of this. Our minds are already programmed . For example I saw this on the news when little kids had to pick between two dolls, a black one and a white doll and decide which one was good. All of them said the white doll, it's crazy but true, even at a young age are told certain things which stick with us our whole life's.

We always have had someone rule over us(kings, presidents, Gods etc). Without us being told or have rules enforced it would be chaos. Humans seek order and not chaos. If were in a place without rules we would make our own. For some reason we made our system this way. People dont have time to think about it so they have people do it for them. They have an authoritave figure.

Im not sure if "told what to do" is coming off right. Not like if a king makes really horrible laws the people will like it since they want to be told. Majority of the people would have to agree. If not they will be removed from power just like we did in the past.
