need the help of people good with computers

how this relates to 2007 runescape: I do fire capes on 07 mainly, hence my following question.

Question: my laptop is 3 years old and I hear the fan louder than usual, I get unusal lagspikes when doing 07 fire capes for clients sometimes and It is worrisome. So, I am thinking of buying a new laptop, for my 07 caping and other forms of gaming. What type of laptop would you guys recommend I buy (price is no problem, just nothing excessive of like 2k) so that I can run fire capes smoothly and play rs3 and 07 without lag?

 

Have you thought about using a mechanical fan and then pointing it at your laptop? Works for me when my laptop overheats.

 

unfortunately I have no idea what a mechanical fan is, im very technically illiterate lol =s

 

Do you need to carry the thing around all the time ,and have you tried cleaning your fan recently?

 

no the laptop would be soley for staying at home on my desk. I'd use my current laptop for school, etc. As for cleaning the fan, any tips on how to? I don't really know what I should use

 

Mechanical fan just means a normal room fan. The portable thing you stick on a table and have it blow you in the face.

I had the same problem as you with my laptop lagging due to overheating. I just pointed a fan at my laptop and it cools down instantly. No more lag.

If your budget is 2k £$? And it will remain permanently hooked up, then why not invest your dosh in a desktop? for 2k you could be running a clocked quad core @ 4.5ghz with 4gb graphics?

 

I was going to suggest something similar to the above, maybe consider investing in a good desktop PC? If you'd be intending to use the current laptop for other portable requirements, a desktop PC could provide more than enough performance for caping and gaming needs.

 

Your fan could be clogged with some dust, your board could be going out. Etc, there are many thing that could cause this problem. As for gaming computers, I would recommend ASUS or MSI.

@diabl0, my laptop is currently a msi cr620 if that means anything, and it has a hard time running rs3, and causes lag rarely on 07, but sometimes makes lag spikes when I prayer flick

 

You should take a look at the larger gaming laptops from Asus. Overkill for runescape but you will appreciate the performance if you play any graphic intensive games.

It could be a problem with your vid card going oit causing lag spikes. I would run a diag. As for your fan, it could be clogged. Or your drivers may need to be upadted. Have you updated them recently?

 

If the laptop fan problem is fixed, but it's still lagging a bit, it's probably your internet. If it's not, then just buy a nice desktop for that, and keep the laptop for other uses!

 

I agree that it might be the internet. Your computer would have to be seriously antiquated to not be able to run a client that is 6 years old and became so popular due to the low reqs. Maybe you have a lot of other shit that is slowing down your computer?
