Best Supports Right Now?

In my experience, the added gold to bottom lane has increased tank supports more so than it has increased carry supports. Why? Tank items always scale the same, basically. Most supports have low AP scaling OR high cooldowns, so buying AP on, say, Janna, results in only a little extra added power. On the other hand, building tank is always a benefit (tanks scale 1:1 with their damage soaking; some tanks even scale with HP or armor), and I think this advantage is making bottom lane dominated by the tanks nowadays.

IMO the A-tier supports are:
Thresh (duh)
Taric (god-tier)
Leona
Nami
I've seen some scary-ass Alistars and Volibears

Some supports that seem nice but I think are just desperate people trying to play a second APC, adding less to the team than they think:
Janna
Annie
Fiddle



Thoughts?

 

I've been maining annie support for the past 2-3 weeks, and it's honestly amazing.

1. I get my carry fed throughout laning phase
2. I keep wards up
3. My ult is devastating in teamfights
4. By mid game, since i build mostly AP / heavy MPen, I can 1v1 both mid and adc, and can 1 burst them if i catch them off guard.

She's honestly too good right now.

 

Taric/Annie/Fiddle/Thresh are top 4 imo.

 

Annie is still amazing-tier, but I'm not sure if she cuts it for A-tier. I destroy Annies when I play ADC. You just have to bait the spells and make sure you get a gank when Tibbers is off cooldown. She absorbs harrass like no other, and she has low base stats for HP and defense.

 

Thresh, Leona, and Taric act like cc walls in fights so I gravitate to them usually. However Annie/Sona/Nami/Fiddle do well and I've been playing around with Volibear support which you may see make a comeback. I've had some disaster supports like Kayle, Nidalee, LeBlanc that are failed attempts to bring a 2nd AP caster in. I like tanks since it gives the top/jungler the choice of opting in some damage. However I rock the fiddle whenever we lack AP.

 

Volibear wrecks in the gold ELO games that I'm playing. He soaks up so much damage early/mid game with his passive alone. I've seen 3v2 ganks where Voli doesn't even try to run; he just starts beating the shit out of everyone and ends up with a double.

 

Leona and Nami, and Thresh, CC is a key component in teams of League of Legends, the More CC the better chance of winning fights

 

The only way you can deal with him is to have the support take ignite or else you gonna be getting dove all game.

He's so viable in the top and in the jungle also, so it's hard to predict where he's going to be. If you take support ignite and it's Voli jungle then meh. -_-

At the same time, sometimes it's easy to predict. They have no junglers and a Volibear, it's probably him. Still, if they queue Fiddle and Volibear it's basically a toss-up who is going to support.

 

Thresh, Taric and Annie are in my opinion the best supports atm, but if you want to stomp bronze, just go with Lucian adc with Pantheon support, it's pretty funny xD

 

Well ignite wouldn't be too bad against Fiddle anyways. :3

Taric seems to be a pretty strong support lately. Thresh and annie are also pretty good in Gold Elo.

 

I agree with the posters up there. Taric is by far a strong pick so far. I've tried a jungle Taric in a Co.op game, and guess what, I've solo'd blue and a red with a few minor camps, all with a machete and 5 pots. And I'd still have 3 pots left with almost 90% health and 90% mana.

That's of course with level 30 masteries and runes. You can try it if you wish.

Personally I'm experimenting builds now because he seems to be buffed and scaled with ARMOR and HEALTH.

But with experiences from my friends, they told me to RUSH LICHBANE, SCEPTER and carry on with situational items.

I have a faster clearing time with wriggles, attack speed helps with the armor that scales. Free wards and more gold.

Taric and annie are the strongest atm.
Literally first pick /ban worthy.

 

I've done Taric jungle, too. The biggest problem is that it gets all 4 of your teammates to rage at you and call you a troll. Not really the best way to start out a game...

Also, Taric seems to just be stupid strong in-lane, and that's his strength. Why deny him the ability to bully the hell out of lane? :laugh:
