    Help me with LoL?!

Sorry if this is in the wrong place..

Since this is a LoL discussion forum I thought a sort of ongoing Q&A section wouldn't go a miss. Personally, I'm rubbish at it - I've played it for quite a while in the past but used to sort of run around doing my own thing. I know nothing of sticking to a lane, jungling and killing the bosses and what not.

If you have any questions post them here, hopefully somebody in the board will be able to help you out  I'll start us off - What would you recommend a complete 'Noob' like myself doing? Whats the best character to start with and which lane? I'm literally clueless!

    need some information about you:

    1-Your account level
2-What you like most: being the guy who carries the game, the guy who helps out the entire team, the guy who tanks all the bitches and still ends up killing some?
3-Do you know how to jungle?

1-Your account level - I haven't played in maybe a year... I used to run around aimlessly, I don't know.. Maybe level 3 or 4?
2-What you like most: being the guy who carries the game, the guy who helps out the entire team, the guy who tanks all the bitches and still ends up killing some? - Help the team. I'm all about the win - couldn't care about K/D as long as I win!
3-Do you know how to jungle? No!

A few champions that are easy and will benefit you well even as you gain further knowledge is Jax and Annie. Annie can be played as both an AP Mid and Support. Jax can be played Top but as you learn to master him he can be used to help you transition intro jungle.

Play and learn, that's about it. No one should be really telling you what to play.

if you're lvl 3-4 i suggesto you to play some games on your own and start trying to learn the basics of the game like lasthitting minions, overall just beginning experience with it.
If you want to help your team to win, support (since you got almost no experience to start jungling) may be a good position. (google support role on google)
but dont start improving now, just play the game till some higher levels and enjoy the game.

Don't play ranked before you get like 500 normal wins, if you don't wanna be stuck in bronze.

Yeah but not everyone learns as fast. I remember in S2 there was someone playing in worlds who had been playing league for 6 months.

This guy is right. People just don't want to learn the game so that's why they are in bronze/sliver/gold. You can easily go plat+ if you just put effort to learn and win.

If you're only level 3 or 4 that means you only played like half a dozen games at the most...

You have nowhere near the amount of experience it takes to be a good player yet or even grasp the mechanics (unless you came from DotA like I did :p).

Just keep playing games, you'll eventually learn and get the hang of it.

Take this to heart and always remember this tip.
-Never underestimate your lane opponent, always give them the benefit of the doubt.
This is basically the most important thing i've learned since i've played League of Legends.

I agree, though 500 wins might be excessive. Wait until you can win 6-7 normal draft picks in a row. ;)

Also, start thinking now about NOT getting kills and instead getting towers. A low-hp Soraka runs up in her jungle and exposes an open tower, take the tower. Sorakas respawn infinitely, but turrets are only a one-time need. Clearing up bottom turret allows the ADC to take down mid, which then leaves dragon free for the rest of the game, while your top now gets the opportunity to split push his heart out.

TL;DR: Objectives win matches. We've all had games where we lost with a 15k gold advantage simply because we never took down turrets in the early game. Team gold doesn't matter in low ELO games, because it's likely that noobs will get killed outside of teamfights anyway. When given the choice between an objective and a kill, take the objective.

Oh, and PS: Don't play like streamers do. They know 1000 times more about the game than you do, and they can pull shit off that is 1000000 times more crazy than what you can do. Although Youtube is full of "top plays" IMO the best play is one where the entire team is not being overtly foolish. Basic mechanics and creep waves are what wins games. You'll never do as much damage as your global creeps do.

Lastly: If you do decide to play jungle often, understand one thing. The jungler's job is not to gank. You're not required to gank at all. The job of a jungler is to pressure objectives and to give relief when objectives are being pressed. Ganking helps this, but when deciding to gank mid or pressure top lane which just got a kill under the enemy tower... take the tower.

I'd also like to emphasize that watching others play, really watching & paying attention, helps a TON. So if you want to get good at the game, you should play bit, get the hang of it (all the lanes, basic concepts such as CSing and objectives) + watch streams and see how they do it. Some streamers will give tips while playing (Chaox, Trick2g, Voyboy).

Ehhhh, yes... and no. I've seen some godly shit in streams. Stuff that I'd try and just feed hard. Dyrus Akali vs Lee and winning the lane and shit. Vayne 3v1 in lane with only a cutlass ...Singed triple proxy in their base ...

Watch streams for insight and of immersion into the overall thinking involved. But don't do it to learn how to play a champ or a certain style. Individual mechanics come with thousands of hours, not with watching Twitch. A big jump in your skill level happens when you learn every champions all-in limits and when to just say fuck that

Watching streams is a huge help. You're able to learn so much, especially during lane phase, in particular bot. I'm not saying what they do doesn't require a high level of skill/thousands of hours. Obviously you won't become a great player just watching, but in my books watching streams are one of the best ways to learn.

I for one did the opposite. I saw disgusting plays and then proceeded to hate the game when nobody else on my team (including me...) could not replicate the stuff in LCS and in streams.

Maybe take his advice and learn from my experience: Streams are great, but your teammates and you are just large seige minions. You can't depend on anyone! :)
