Please ban all these "Buying x EOC gold paypal"

Can we put a limit on people offering to buy gold with PP. Probably something related to vouches, membership, donatorship, something to let us know the person is at least reasonably trusted. Look through the RSGP buyers topics every day there are half a dozen new people with barely any posts and no rep asking to buy hundreds of mils through paypal only. These are likely scams 99% of the time which I doubt many people fall for and the biggest problem is they just spam that forum from the people who legitimately want to buy gold. Why are we not only allowing these people to post their scam attempts on this forum but also spam the forum with junk and ruin it while doing that.

And 50% of them will probably be scammers. If the person has vouches, donor, admin, or stuff like that I can agree with it. But someone who joined on the day asking for this is 99% scammer.

 

support, i think a rule such as 20+ vouches, 1 month member, 100+ non spam post count etc should be implemented to buy rsgp with paypal.

Although this might be kind of tedious to monitor(fake vouches,checking if posts are spam or not).

 

Market restrictions = a no-no

Besides, many people come to Sythe just to use the market. If there were to be restrictions such as the one you're suggesting, then we wouldn't get any new users.

 

This has been suggested before and denied. It is up to our traders to determine who is trustworthy and who they trade with. Sythe has stated before that we will never go to a system like that as it limits the potential for growth and development.

 

In my opinion, it's neither necessary nor possible to put restrictions on whether or not people can buy with a certain payment method. At the end of the day, it is the choice of the seller as to whether or not they accept PayPal, and it's not for Sythe to dictate whether or not they are able to do that.

Major gold traders on Sythe are familiar with the risks of PayPal, and I would hazard a guess that most of them either have their own restrictions on accepting PayPal, or are in a position to protect themselves should anyone attempt to scam them.

 

Safe trading starts with the traders themselves. Maybe instead of trying to add a new rule we could make the effort to provide even better stickies explaining the dangers of Paypal trading and possibly provide some safer alternatives.

 

so if you would put up a thread right now you should be banned too. Because i'd not trust you at all either. Having a brain and using it before trading is a given, don't trade who you don't trust.

 

I'm using PA so I don't know the issue with me.

This is less about the problem of scam risks and more about the fact the forums are flooded with bullshit scam attempts. It is basically spam, everyone knows the person is a scammer and the odd time someone might fall for it, in the mean time I can't find legit buyers because the forum is spammed.

Just because there's a large number of vader accounts that come to Sythe and try to scam, that does not mean you can automatically assume that everyone is a scammer. It's a very naive way of thinking.

 

Should atleast be a sub-forum for paypal offers so people who refuse to put such risk in don't have to be overwhelmed by their spam.

 

This is a stupid idea, and one that only negates trading. People aren't forced into trading anyone, and or forced into accepting certain payment methods.

Sythe himself has stated time and time again, he dislikes intervening in the market and adding unnecessary rules; this for one is redundant.

We all know most of these are scams. So make a subforum for them so people willing to take risk can look at paypal offers. At the moment every five minutes a stupid "Paying 0.4 per mil PP" thread comes up you can barely find the legitimate people.

 

That would be pointless. The undermarket won't stand a chance. Just drop it, it's the buyers and sellers decision on whom they trade with. It's their own fault for not taking the proper precautions if they do happen to get scammed.

 

Though I agree with your reasoning, market restrictions would greatly lower traffic and people coming simply to use the market - instead going elsewhere.

 

Yes they probably wouldn't stand a chance because they're high risk. Look at the forums now you can't find barely any PA offers because so many PP topics spammed up.

It's a fair idea but wouldn't work in practise.

It's been said countless times, and by Sythe himself, that there will never be post/date/other requirements on any aspect of the market.
