The Hunger Games: Catching Fire [Thoughts & Concerns]

Went to see it today and it's pretty awesome. I read the books first so the storyline didnt shock me as much as I'm sure it shocked those who havent. When I saw the first film I felt like they missed out a lot of book content that was quite significant but they have certainly done the second one justice. Stoked for #3 now. As the tributes were entering the arena I was thinking, how the hell will they fit all that in.. because there was a lot still to come based on the books. But it worked very well and didn't seem crammed in at all.

I really like the whole concept of the entire triology and how it's just a slightly more exaggerated version of some systems and entertainment present in the real world.

What are your thoughts on Catching Fire, or the concept in general?

I had not idea a second hunger games came put. The first one was okay. Iv never read the series so i have no idea if those are any good. Would you recommend the books?

 

The books by far are better than the films, and I'd recommend reading 2 & 3 before watching them. Don't be put off by the masses of 12 year old girls, the books are awesome.

And yeah, the film came out today (21st - in the UK anyways not sure where this applies to also).

 

I have not read any of the books within the series, but that has not effected my opinion. I thought the movies were awesome. I saw Catching Fire last night and I thought it was pretty freaking sweet. The visual affects were awesome, and I find the theme and overall idea behind the series to be incredible.

The schematic behind Catching Fire was very well thought out. The ending and how they exposed the Hunger Games was pretty sweet. I simply can not wait for the next movie, which I hear is being broken up into two parts. Catching Fire was so good that I might go see it again.

My roommate saw it today, he said it was pretty good. I'm waiting for it to release on dvd to download it.

 

Number 3 will be insanely good.

I honestly do not bother watching the movies, as it would ruin the books for me. I cannot imagine that a movie could ever get my brain racing as much as a book. Glad to see you also prefer the books

 

This is me, I was put off by the masses of 12 year old girls. I expected something different, family was going to watch it and I just decided that I had nothing better to do so I tagged along. I dont like watching part 2 before part 1, I almost didnt go because of it. Ill probably watch the first one today or tomorrow.

 

the original battle royale movie was absolutely brilliant and for that reason I never liked the hunger games. how can you claim to have not copyrighted something and get away with it when the plot consists of children fighting it out in an arena in a futuristic setting with the exact same ending? jees.



If anyone felt the hunger games concept is good but it was done in a child-friendly way, watch the original! great ol' blood fest.

 

Meh, went to see it at the cinema with a friend.
I thought almost the whole movie were boring, atleast the first hour.

Any and most films can be said to be copying another, the concept is slightly different although ultimately children fighting to the death, there is a more complex theme and story line than just that.

You're probably the type of person who just enjoys the action of a film. Personally, I love the way you have to understand how and why things are happening, the mind games etc.

 

I loved both of the movies, went to see the Avant Premiere in belgium when it first came out on the 23rd. Loved it.

 

Saw it tonight with a couple of friends. It was alright, nothing special. The beginning was slow af though and I couldn't stand that news broadcaster guy with the ponytail...

Also, is there a reason as to why Katniss seems to have a never ending quiver of arrows?

 

I haven't read the books yet. I saw the first and second movie, however. The first one was good, but this one was much better. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm excited to watch the next one. Also, Jennifer Lawrence is so hot.

 

I definitely enjoyed it. It seems to point out how it is in the real world sort of to me (the political side). I was looking forward to more bloodshed, but the majority of the movie was pretty much 'all talk'.

 

For me, the intellectual thought behind the storyline is far more interesting than fight scenes. If it's action you're after, though, you'll love number 3. I heard they're splitting it in to two movies - can't wait.

I haven't seen it yet, but i remember when i first watched the first one when they first got dropped off and started killing each other i was like wtf.

 

First one kinda sucked, I'm hearing this one kicks ass though. Will make plans to see it soon. Already read the books, those were pretty legit.
