So I want to try out hearthstone..

So I've watched a little bit of hearthstone gameplay from blizcon on youtube and its kind of peaked my interest a bit. I understand that the game is still in beta?

I have a couple questions about it that I'm hoping someone has the answers to.


1) Where would be the best place to try and obtain a beta key? How much longer is the game in beta? What price should I expect to pay for one?

2) I'm kind of inexperienced when it comes to card games, I haven't played anything like magic before because I've always considered it to be pretty nerdy. During the beta will it be possible for me to learn, or will it be mostly hard core people playing?

3) How much do decks of cards cost? Should I consider buying some during the beta to play around with? Where can I purchase them? (I assume for me the game will be mostly casual, but I still plan on playing it for at least a few weeks if its any good).

1) Finding a key is going to be really hard, what I recommend is you sign up for beta access through blizzard and hope you get a key, I think most keys are going for around $30+ though. 2) It's pretty easy to learn, I had no idea what I was doing when I first started but picked up pretty quickly, there's a tutorial that teaches you everything you need to know though.

3) 100 coins for 1 pack, 2.99 for 2 packs, 9.99 for 7 packs, 19.99 for 15 packs, 49.99 for 40 packs. If you buy any decks with your own money during the beta you get the equivalent amount of decks once the game is released.

 

You can get a key on sythe for like $10-15.

Game goes into open beta in a month (was announced at blizzcon)

 

Thanks for your prompt responses guys, I appreciate it! I went through the steps to make sure that I'm beta-eligible but I doubt that I'll get a key that way. Given that its coming out so soon I'll probably wait it out and plan on picking it up on release instead of paying for it.

I've gotten two for $15 here on Sythe. They're not usually much more than $20-25 on extremely short notice, and if you want you can get one for less.

Does anybody know what date it's going into open beta? Or just December?

 

The date hasn't been released - it's just supposed to be in December.
