Okay, currently I have a macbook pro.
It is sexy to edit with on a external monitor BUT, it's not enough.

I'm looking for a computer I can edit with smoothly with no lag, and even when I save a LARGE amount of images/files/gifs/videos, it wont lag.
Not looking for gaming, as I wont be playing games.

    Budget under £1000 british pounds.
    What do you suggest?

Would you consider doing some research and building it yourself? Or is that too far out of your comfort zone? Its a lot better if you're looking for bang for your buck.

Do you need any monitors? Mouse, keyboard? Operating system?

my suggestion to you would be build something with an I7-4770k, a low-range Nvidia GPU with CUDA support(something cheap, the CUDA cores can be utilized in some editing programs such as Photoshop and others. It helps do computing much faster than without it.) and an SSD. you won't need a mega power supply or the most expensive case/MOBO/RAM you can find based on your needs.

I will only build it if its a VERY good money saving method.
Maybe win8, whatever is better for what I need.

Wouldn't the RAM & Hard drive help me with the lag situation?

any ol' ram @1600mhz will do you just fine. no need for exuberant fancy ram. you won't see much, if any difference in what you're doing with your PC
I suggested an SSD, because it's massively faster than a hard drive. Definitely go for that. THAT one piece, alone, will make more difference in any computer than ANY OTHER upgrade you could possibly do otherwise. Once you go SSD, you never go back.

nothing really. simple air cooling will do you fine, the stock cooler with it I7 will suffice for your needs. an asus Gryphon z87 or something similar would be a great motherboard for you aswell. its an matx board so you can stuff it into nearly ANY case you desire, big or small. you shouldn't need more than perhaps a 450-500w power supply at those specs. For future upgrades though you might consider a bigger power supply if you feel like budgeting it.
