Worth playing 2007 rs?

I've been watching chris archie videos and I've had this sudden rush of nostalgia which has left me wanting to start RS again.

However, I'm 29 and hold a full time career and married so I'm wondering if it would be worth going through the grind again. I'm wondering how the player base is. I really don't want to invest time into something that will crash and burn.

When I played (6 years ago?) I shared an account with a person I met from the game (for 4 years) and that was a good arrangement until I quit.

Just curious if it's even worth starting again or not. I've been out of the loop for quite a while.

 

hi! in response to your question, i'll tell you this. Oldschool has been able to maintain its playerbase at 10k to 18k range, constantly. So i'd say it is still alive and kicking. As for the community, i'd say it is fairly good, I've seen a lot of people help out their fellow man in need by donating a few gps and items. I myself have, too. As to the main question, should you come back? I'd say hell yeah! It's a great game, we get constant new updates from the 4 mods that are very well experienced, in comparison to the 500 others who aren't. They listen to us and that is why I like old school ^_^

 

If it looks fun to you then you can try playing it on your free time if possible. Eventually you will come to see no reason to play after a while so it's really up to you. In your position I'd say no.

If you have free time your willing to invest into it then I think you should try it out again. I had quit rs for awhile and came back when 07 was released. I found it to be fun again because like you said the nostalgia hits you and you remember all of the fun you used to have.

 

I'm in a similar position to yourself, little bit younger and not married ( yet D= ) however, I do play OSRS sometimes. The grind was loooong, essentially on and off since it came out to get to a reasonable total/combat with majority of RFD quests done.

The problem with it is, unless you appreciate the game for what it is, nostalgia wears off. Many of my friends claimed they would stick with OSRS when it came out and 80% have gone back to the live game.

Give it a try, there's no reason to sign your life away - just see how it goes.

As stupid as this post was, it has more truth than any other post I've read.. :huh:
I, too, play high (medical card perks) and that's the only time I still enjoy this game. Because I don't care about the other players. As for the guy saying the community is awesome, it's full of scammers merch bots and one-itemers. Although all the old things you used to want to do on RS are way funner because they aren't nearly as crowded as when they came out on real RS.
GWD is empty 95% of the time. I can stay in one world and get 8 or so kills with my mates before we have to tele and no one ever comes.

Honestly, if you wanna play i would do it. OSRS hasn't been perfect since its launch, but it's been moving forward and maintaining. The market seems to be doing pretty well, updates are being (slowly) incorporated, and the game has maintained its challenging aspects that made it so much more rewarding.

The game could use more players as well as some slight fixes with servers/toggle options. There is now an option (as in EOC) to turn off the profanity filter, which is nice. Skilling and slayer are still effective money-makers instead of their items plummeting into worthlessness.

Overall i'd say the state of the game is good and the future looks promising - consider it a mix of 2007 RS and a "what-if" regarding many of the updates people considered to have broken RS.

The way I see it if you have some spare time on your hands and think it would be of some enjoyment then go for it.

Don't see it as investing time into it - maybe think of it as passing time that you have spare for a little fun? Just my two pence worth.

 

Unless you think that you can do the grind all over again, starting from fresh, then I wouldn't recommend it. If you can, I'd go for it.

 

If you don't have the time like you once did, just make a pure or something. Doesn't have to be huge stats, just have fun in the wild, do whatever, quest, it won't take as much time as other builds may.

 

Old school RS is definitely worth a try, just don't let it fully take over your life! Try it out, play a bit, and see if you like it

However, I doubt you may have much time. Playing it to kill time here and there is probably the best option.

 

Game isn't too bad but if you managed to stay away from it I wouldn't start playing again...

This is really a question you need to answer yourself, it's fun, the playerbase is pretty good if you ask me, yet not crowded. I personally enjoy it.

 

I say start fresh, with your OWN account. It is worth it in my opinion.

And to be honest, any game is worth playing as long as you enjoy it. Age is not a factor
