Basics to avoid/reduce RWT bans

It seems that more and more people are getting banned unnecessarily. I've gave this advice to a few people on Skype already. I would like to disclose this method to all beginning Gp merchants around, hopefully if will save you some decent $$$. Here we go!

First of all it's a wise idea to use a VPN for all your trades. You can get a cheap VPN at https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/. Once you've set this up you need to confirm it's working. Go to http://www.whatsmyip.org/ to check your IP, when your VPN is switched on you should see another IP then your original.

Secondly you need to get rid of possible flags on your computer. Jagex will flag you in your 'Jagex' folder located in your user folder on your computer. Also delete all three .dat files who belong to Jagex. Once you've been banned Jagex will autoban you on this if you don't delete them. It's important that you do this consistently, best would be before and after each login. After deleting these files, please always check if they're gone! You can also check this instruction vid

There's also a second way to avoid getting flagged cache files on your computer. When you run RuneScape in Sandboxie you can have all files deleted automatically after you close your browser. This is done by running your browser on a virtual separate disk. It's more easy but it makes your computer a little bit slow. You can download Sandboxie on http://sandboxie.com/

last but not least I've a few tips left:
- Only login when needed
- Keep your stock low
- Once banned throw away your account
- Use bonds to make your account member

- Use accounts with older creation dates
- Use accounts that don't scream 'mule' - i.e. ones with some skills trained, etc.
- When trading, throw up junk items. A lot of people do not do this.
- Drop trade/duel arena/die in wilderness. These preventive measures definitely do help. If the person you're trading with is cooperative, why not do these?

What exactly are .dat files doing on our computer? They store info about you or what? Just want to know why we should delete them.

Jagex saves data in .dat files. Here they can store everything they like, such as some kind of flag. For example you get banned on account A and you make a new one (B), this account could be autoflagged because of the .dat files on your computer.

But couldnt they just as easily just save the IP adress that account A was banned on and link the accounts created afterwards with the same IP?

 

That woud unfairly ban many users that have the same ip. Consider airports, universitie, cafes, etc.

 

If I delete my .dat files, will my old offenses come back up. Jw, ive never been banned

 

Correction, this would unfairly flag some users. Flag doesn't mean a autoban. Also there's no doubt, when you login to someones pc who has been banned for RWT once you could get banned too. However since it's not your regular IP / PC you can have Jagex correct this unfair ban pretty easily. So far I've never heard of this case you're pointing out in all these years.

Not sure what you want to ask here. Old offenses are noted on your account only, this has nothing to do with your .dat files. However when you're banned for RWT or macroing this will be saved. I've had my main banned once for RWT but never committed this offence. It was just linked to my GP merchandising accounts.

Where are .dat files located? I couldnt play the video.

I searched .dat on my VPS and a ton of things came up and didn't want to delete the wrong thing.

 

It's pretty easy to find most jagex-related files.
Hit the search with Jagex, after that Runescape, and last but definetely not least random.dat that's usually located in the userfolder and is allocated to rs only.

You have an idea that this weekend will be worse for bans or are you just saying that in general?

 

So if I delete all the cache from the user folder, it basically does what?

 

Delete all files allocated to Jagex and Runescape on your computer.
Basically means nothing on your computer can store a flag allocated to RWT.
Nobody is sure of the exact measures Jagex does but this atleast disables a local-saved flag.
