I don't know if you guys play guitar, but I recently found out about Open F tuning while trying to learn to play the Zep song Bron-Y-Aur Stomp. It is the guitar tuned down a whole step and then the 1st, 5th, and 6th strings tuned down another whole step. It has this really cool kind of dark folk or black metal sound, and then it can completely change to this really airy, light sound. I was playing around and capoed it down on the 7th fret and was playing this really sludgy sounding blues riff.

If you guys play guitar or bass for that matter, or any other stringed instrument, do you use alternate tunings a lot?

Interesting, what style do you play? Sounds like probably some death metal.

I only ever use standard or standard #2. i.e., drop D haha :)

Sounds interesting, will give this a try if my 9's on my tele can take it!

If I play anything with a dropped D then it is usually double drop or DADGAD
