You're fault for purchasing the mini-ranks, they are fun ranks that mean nothing, you gave them value when you began to trade for it -.- You sucked the fun out of it by making it into a business...

TPM has said it perfectly here moes. You should never have started selling miniranks.. they werent designed for that.

 

They are designed for that. Sythe also told me that he was aware of the fact that the miniranks are being traded for quite a lot of money. He told me that he will keep the rare miniranks rare. They wont be released in a stupid minigame just like Elena suggested.

 

If that is so, there should be a way to see how many of each miniranks are out there. The same way that you're able to view all the mini-ranks that exist.

I dislike the fact that they are used as a monetary trading item, but I guess if people enjoy trading/buying/selling them, nothing much can be done.

 

miniranks that are for participating in different areas of the forum aren't really tradeble anyway. The ones that are tradeble are randomly given by admins as a reward or something. If someone wants to sell it why not?

if a minirank is tradeble, then technically it was also designed to be bought/sold..

maybe some new miniranks can be introduced and something related to Elena's idea can be implemented.

 

Bump and @Moes just because you're not fond of an idea or are afraid it maybe harming you doesn't mean it is stupid. I'd like Richards input because I am 99.5% sure that they weren't made to be traded for money original that is something that people just started doing. They were a way for people to have a bit of fun and boost activity. That is why there was such a huge debate whether or not to keep them spam forum only.

The point was to just have fun with them in the spam forum that's why people were attempting to keep them limited to the spam forum only.

I didn't say what they're used for now I simply said what they were intended for.

Also, what you have to understand is that if they were made tradeble, then a purpose of it is to be traded. If people can trade miniranks for miniranks then I don't see a problem in them trading a minirank for $$.

If they were kept for just the spam forum, I don't think as many people would be interested in them

 

Go ahead and ask Richard what the original point of them were for. It was to boost activity. That is clearly not what they're used for now. My point is we should go back to the original intent for them.

 

Doesn't matter you're still not getting the point :L. Just because these miniranks had a so called primary use doesn't mean that's the only purpose of miniranks.

It's a bit like me saying, donations perks should be removed because the original point of donations are to help with the costs of the website running.

If the feature of being able to trade miniranks is available, then there is nothing wrong with trading them. I mean in that case you shouldn't of sold your miniranks either.

 

I didn't say take away the sales of mini ranks that's the first thing. The second thing is I just said make it a more fair playing field for other people to obtain them.

 

They weren't originally intended to be bought and sold, no - but then as they caught on minirank trading was made. So now they are.

Anyways, some sort of game as suggested by Moh but with Richard's concept of making it banned users' miniranks which are randomly obtainable is what suits me - I don't think basing it on posts or threads is a good way to go.

Like Roary said, they weren't viewed at something worth of value until mini-rank trading was installed. It's too late to do this now which is the premise of all this. I don't know how I feel about taking the mini-ranks of banned users as I believe in mistakes. I guess it really depends on who though.

 

Yes when I suggested mini-ranks my sole intent was to boost activity and reward those who participated in the site more. I had discussed with sythe thoroughly my point that mini-ranks should return to solely that extensively in the past but to no avail. This was at the time when a new thread was created in the spam forum every couple of days with people begging for mini-ranks left, right and center. Since that discussion though, these threads have stopped and the only way you can obtain the mini-ranks is through sandbox competitions etc or posting. I think a happy medium has been found. I'm against the mini-rank sales but I still think that they should be tradeable. At the end of the day having something be able to be traded but stopping it for being traded for money is pretty much impossible.

Since banned users retain their mini-ranks now as per my suggestion I'm guessing this plan is not going ahead anymore
