Viral threads

In SF either remove it or empty it out and have it start new and an addition would be to allow threads that are inactive for a month to expire and get removed, currently it is the most useless part of the site and calling it inactive is an understatement...

The point of that section is that, if something viral happens, and is spread like wild fire over the internet, which leads to people searching for said event, we would make topics within that section to draw in users searching for said events. It doesn't even have to be exactly viral. There is also no activity requirement/need. It's more so when something happens, it's used.

I.e, threads about sports finals when they are happening, heavily publicised/'it thing' in the music industry...or the usual, woman has coitus with dog or girl sticks innate object up several places.

This might give you a better example of what thread types I mean:

Fair call however a happy medium could be just a section known as Archived Viral Threads, where they collect views still and can even be ordered in the fashion they are now but it would allow for a dynamic section and encourage more posts in SF that have some merrit

If something goes viral it'll get moved there, nothing has went viral since then so therefore.. yeah nothing's been moved there. Almost like a hall of fame if you like.

 

I don't think you fully understand the point in that section. Before bashing it and asking for it to be removed try to understand its purpose.

Even though I don't frequent the area, the threads in there show a timeline of "viral events" which is kind of fun to look over every once in a while.

She (I think?) made a good point in the fact it would be fun to look at a time line of events. Too bad like you pointed out, half of the "viral incidents", are pretty much all the same thing. If a user wishes to reminisce on the past, they could always google search Site:sythe.org thread here, and or just go back tons of pages in the spam forum.

However, the concept of the section is flawed. Viral incidents on the internet, caused the "thread" to go viral. If it was a section of "Viral things" on Sythe or of things on the internet, that would make more sense, but still pointless either way.

I think they should all just be moved back to the general spam forum, with the section being deleted. Funny enough, the threads serve a good purpose for SEO (Search Engine Optimizing), weird traffic or not, its still potential traffic and members that may stay. Seems like quite a few members got massive amounts of referrals through those threads, and maybe a few of those members are still around.

Why is his thread not in the Viral Section? Probably because it doesn't really matter.

 

yes, we all copied him using better keywords to get better seo and get more views for fun ranks

Support, the views would still be received regardless of what section the threads are in, etc.

 

probably keeping it there for seo purposes... which isn't especially productive as it'll only raise the bounce rate.
