Void Ranger (42 Def) vs Maxed Ranger (99 Def)

At the moment I am a void ranger, with 42 defense and 90 ranged. I enjoy edge pking mostly.

A maxed Void ranger with 42 def is combat 91.
A maxed Ranger with 99 def is combat 104.

Is it worth the 14 combat levels? What would be more "FUN" to pk at edge? Combat 91 or 104?

 

Depends on what you think fun is.

At 91 combat, most of your fights will be fast pace.
At 104 combat, it's quite the opposite. However you will be seeing more risk from players.

With the more defence, you're able to branch out to different armour which has variety. With 42 defence you don't have that many things to choose from.

I'd honestly go for 99 defence for a few reasons:

1. You're able to go bossing at armadyl if you ever want too.
2. Different fights with more risk.
3. Variety of styles to fight.

The only downsides I can think of is actually training to 99 def.

 

To be honest, the best def is 75 for a tank ranger, especially since barrows gear is so cheap on 07.

im currently training for a void ranger account. 80 range/42 def currently. almost got range void. i will try out 42 def (void) and 99 range pking then try 70 def, then try 80, 90 99 etc. cant wait to boss it at amradyl though

 

im making a void ranger myself currently, i aint bothered to get 99 def since questing to barrow gloves is ages long, and ill just use void

 

Keep 42 defence if you primarily want to d-bow rush but go def tank once you're sick of rushing.
