Forum Instant Messenger

I know, this isn't a new idea. But I think now more than ever Sythe could really benefit from implementing an instant messenger service within the forum. Skype is such a horrible platform for conducting secure transactions. With very little information, people can steal a Skype account and rip off anybody on the contact list.

Add to this, imposter scams. I'd say that the majority of successful scams on Sythe = imposters. If we moved away from Skype chat towards an on-site messaging system, it would be WAY harder to pull off.

This is an update that vastly improves security for all levels of users (beginner to advanced). Safer trading means a more successful marketplace. If our new users stop getting scammed by stupid Skype scams, then Sythe.org will retain way more members, and the staff will have to deal with much fewer scam reports.

I think this is an update with a very obvious payoff.

 

So simple but yet so beneficial. That's a great idea and I completely agree with this. When ever I try to add people on sythe there's always like 4 or 5 other names that pop up as the same person and it's annoying as fuck sometimes.

 

support, this could really get rid of any imposter and make this website much safer. i though richard was fixing instant messenger, haven't heard about it for a long while

 

I support this idea but from what I've heard we would need new server for that.

 

support.. This would help a LOT. No more imposters, pm traps, hacked skypes. If this is possible, then please do it!

 

This would increase traffic on the site, increase member retention ratio, increase registrations, and increase security.

 

also we could become friends with people that don't use skype. If you are trying to talk with a sythe member via PM system, its just too annyoing to talk.

 

Moht suggested it a while ago and it was well received by most users and staff. I'm not sure if Richard/Matthew saw it, as I'd assume it would rest solely upon them to implement/code.

I support this idea, and believe it would be a great addition.

 

I'd love for this to happen. I'm sure the community would help out financially to make this a reality too.

 

support this idea, if theres any problems with making it work, then try to fix them and ask community for their input/donations if they're needed

 

Support this, would help alot, I have heard of too many peoples Skype's being hacked.

 

To this day I don't see what's wrong with the crude instant messaging we already have a la:

[candyman]kingdoms[/candyman]

 

This would be incredible!! Impostors would be really cut out of the picture!

 

This would be a nice addition to Sythe. Just throw a link at the top of Sythe index to the Sythe instant messaging service and members will get used to it.

Although I don't think a feature that big will come soon due to lack of time of upper staff. Support anyway

 

Its a great idea, but unfortunately its been brought up before, doubt staff will change their minds on this

yea, first thing what came to my mind was something smiliar to facebook chat which would be added on site, able to minimalise, available on any page
