Hearthstone: Pay 2 Win Madness

Just me ranting about Hearthstone...

Bought a key from someone on Sythe yesterday and played for the past 16 hours straight. I'm not even mad but this game follows neatly in the steps of Blizzard's latest business model... pay to win.

It's incredibly fun, but if anyone is looking to play against better players the only way to do so is to spend money. I'm not even talking about $40-$50, it's more in the ballpark of $200+ for a decent pool of cards.

Each booster pack costs about $1.45 and contains 5 cards. There are class-specific cards, and neutral cards. Each booster pack contains a mix of the two but if you're looking for something for a specific class then good luck finding it because there are 10 classes total and not every booster pack contains a card for each class. To build a decent deck of 30 cards you need to open literally hundreds of booster packs. If you don't have a decent deck you can only play against noobs, because anyone who has paid the generous price tag to get exactly what they want has access to cards that will melt the standard free to play decks in minutes.

I'm definitely addicted but Hearthstone is nowhere near a casual game that can be enjoyed by all. It's just like Magic: The Gathering, the more money you throw at the game, the better you'll become.

 

Play MTG = Packs are $5 or so and you get 1 or 2 decent cards per pack.

I know a girl who built a deck that ended up costing $1200.

Play Notch's MMO-CCG scrolls. It is really addicting as well.
