Skype Imposter/Offsite Scammer

Hi Sythe Community, I am Vita and I have a suggestion here. Yesterday, I was doing MM with steam sales with other two guys. They told me there was a guy who tried to pretending to be me. As they knew he is a scammer who is trying to voice call both of them on skype. And this scammer is mainly focus on MM section as a guest and tried to scam people. Good thing they didn't get scam, but ended up they stop doing the business. And I stopped MM.

What I am suggesting here is for those who is not registered they can see whatever content inside of the forum. Threads, post, and stuffs. Can we limit it only registered member can see contents inside of this forum. I believe this can prevent skype imposter and offsite scammer.

Then people will just create an account and evade - plus limiting guest browsing is a mistake a lot of sites make and IMO turns people away rather than bringing them in.

 

But for those who is interested in this community, they are willing to make an account and be part of this community. If they try to evade it is more easily to catch them and ban them rather then those who don't even have an account at forum, and there is nothing we can do if they are just a guest cuz u dont know who did that.

Edit: What i mean limiting is they have to make an account in order to see the content of the forum. guest is still coming but they cant see what inside is.

 

^^^^^ OSBOT has private forums too and they have shitton of impostors too . It wouldn't solve this issue in any way. Ban evaders and scammers do exist and will always exist. It's not our fault people are stupid enough to fall into impersonator scam with voice chats even if your thread states SIZE=7 'I never do voice trades'
If ppl get scammed they'll just be more careful for next time and will avoid it. If I see anyone reports impersonation attempt to me I help them to avoid it in future and they never complain about impersonation attempts later. Also, if someone adds you to skype chat to MM trade start with notification you wont call/do voice trades with them. Tell them to ignore any voice chat requests as it wil be impersonator. It happens nearly in every of my trades, it's funny how my customers play with impersonators later after I warn them they might be attempted to scam by impersonator

 

Thanks for the suggestion Vitale! I'm afraid, though the idea is in part sound, we won't be implementing it - we have considered this and Sythe himself is against limiting the guests. We don't want to push traffic away.
