Will your previous ELO/S3 league effect your placement in S4?

In the middle of my placement matches and not doing so well, wondering if I wind up in bronze, will it effect my placement next season? for example, will i have to win more to place higher?

Also, if I stopped playing my placement matches for the rest of the season, Could i just wait for S4 and start fresh?

 

I suggest you finish those matches. If you end up in silver you get some neat rewards. Bronze still gets you an icon. Your placement matches will refresh at the beginning of season 4.

 

yo, u'll have a hidden mmr, so if you say end season 3 with gold , you'll prolly start start 4 with a hidden on 1250-1300.

 

I suspect they'll do a soft MMR reset around some arbitrary intermediate value, like they did around 1200 ELO in the Season 2 - Season 3 reset.

 

Unfortunately, I'm 1-5 due to AFKs and people not properly selecting roles/people not playing enough normals to be experienced enough. I don't really care for the rewards as I would have to at least win 5 to get silver. So would it just be better to not place?

 

if you dont place, next season it will be the same kind of placement since you were unranked.
also winning 5 games doesnt mean you get silver btw

 

That was something I read on forums, that unranked 5 wins will place silver.

 

i thought it was current elo+1200 divided by 2 for the new season?, you start your placement at that, dont you?

 

Depends, had a friend go 5 - 5 go Bronze 1, also had a friend who won 6 - 4 go Silver 3

 

Bronze 1 is still good though.With Bronze 1 you probably could get to Silver 5, as long as u dont get trolls*

On on of my accs i went 5-5 and got bronze 5. Like wtf?
Since then afk's all day er'ry day.

 

Wouldn't that help lower elo people and hurt higher elo as far as placement

 

sadly the more hurt people when it comes to reset are the higher elo...

 

This is what happened between Season 2 and Season 3.

Yes, but the idea is that lower ELO people will place down where they belong, while higher ELO people will place up further. It's a pretty sound idea that allows for rating changes based on skill changes between seasons.

I was ranked more recently from my placements. I went 7-3 and started in Silver III. Bronze is really not fun to be in from what i've heard so i'd just wait it out.

 

Im still stuck at bronze 1. -.-

 

Just play as much as you can to get your hidden MMR up, that way you can place higher with the soft elo reset.

 

you'll end up around low silver assuming you win most of your placements. grinding mmr is really only for higher ranked people who actually drop significantly but have room to climb through placements when s4 starts.
