Developing Template

Hi all,

Currently im developing a template for my site. it's a site with forums for runescape. this is my current forum view template of what i have so far.

any suggestions is welcome and it's just in motion and not comlpetely done so everything is not there, ty

just tell me what you think of the color scheme and what im going with it so far.

note: the backround is just there cause i didnnt know what else to put, it is not a part of the actual template

 

Fractal for the background is not working, plus it isn't even centered.

 

i just put that there for whatevever, ill be making my own background

 

In that case then it is okay I guess. It looks really dated and quite boring. I can't really put my finger on it, but I think your font choice is having something to do with it. I also think you could make better use of white space.

 

Thank you. I am trying to go for a small/pixely look. I don't like too much in a template i just like it simple. I threw this together and it's not all in proper alignment nor filled properly. this is just an idea of the theme im going for and i'm still adding more. im making a whooooole website theme this is just the forums part. i didnt put in a banner yet either

For sure. If you're going for simple/minimalism then this really isn't the way too go. For simple you're using too many drop shadows and one pixel boarders. Scanlines are way out of date, and it again is just boring. Simple can be done effective with good use of white space and element composition. This doesn't have any of that so far, and if you're wanting use to give you criticisms then you need to post a near complete piece or else you're going to get these comments. You can't give us something half-assed and expect rave reviews.

Agreeing with Mike, this is the style used in web design from ages ago.

 

It's true. The site i'm trying to bring back is a site from like 5 or more years ago. the template before had the same style and colouring, for some reason i like it but i'd rather follow other peoples comments and build something that people will actually enjoy, and like to use.

 

Try rounded boxes, makes it much look smoother - like sythe

 

Yeah, looks quite like a old forum.
