Farm Work

Hi guys, just secured a months work on a farm at the end of uni.
I'll be driving a tractor towing the chaser bin.

Was just wondering if anyone has had any experience doing such things and if it's difficult, tips etc..?

(I'm from Australia).

I did it for a while, like anything else in terms of driving if you can naturally drive you'll have no problem.

 

Is that honestly all you do though? just drive the tractor?
Like, emptying it etc.. how does that work?

they're going to tell you how to do everything. it's not like you're going to show up and not tell you what to do. you're using thousands of dollars in equipment that makes them so much per hour, so letting some random kid fuck it up isn't really an option.

 

Pretty well. They're gonna teach you the way they want you to do it. It's usually just simple PTO and hydraulic controls though for dumping/unloading.

 

Drive in a straight line.

 

please.. if anything im the resident farmer, jack and his little tonka toys do not count.

 

If they hired you knowing you didn't have any experience with this stuff, it cant't be that hard to learn.

If you can drive a car you can drive this, just keep focused and you will be fine don't want to go sideswipping dat harverster ;0

 

I'm sure there will be someone to show you the ropes/answer any of your questions. They won't just throw you up on there without an explanation =p
