Sticky reduction & clean-up

This idea stems from a similar suggestion in Grave's thread here http://www.sythe.org/suggestions/1636433-regarding-forum-links-cleanup.html

Currently stickies are often overlooked. Threads that are stickies don't get a whole lot of views as people are fed up with them as we have so many. They get to be a burden and as a result their importance is diminished and people do not read them.

I propose stickied threads be reviewed and some of them merged or removed. There should be a maximum of like 2/3 stickies per section imo.

Good suggestion. Which stickies do you feel are unnecessary? I've been meaning to tackle the ones in the Report a Scammer section (these were supposed to be merged a long time ago, actually)...

 

There are quite a few that could be merged. It would need to be a collaborative effort however since there are simply so many stickied threads and I'm not familiar with some of them within the marketplace so I won't offer opinion on those ones.

I will go through our community, OT, guides & support centre and graphics in a little bit though and post back on this thread.

Guidelines for Staff-User Interactions & Sythe.Org Staff; How does it work? & Sythe.Org Staff; List of and Changes in & List of Sythe.org Titles and Ranks could all be reduced/included into one thread. They aren't really necessary and they aren't frequented much.

Introductions/Farewells
Staff "Going Away" Thread. is redundant as no one uses it. Sythe FAQ - New Users Please Read! is redundant also since there is the FAQ by Roary in the support center. There is also a deleted sticky in here which is lame.

Donor Lounge
How to resize a .gif [UPDATED] can be merged with Avatar Request Thread since they only resize them so they fit properly with their avatars. It could just be un-stickied and then linked to within the thread if need be.

Suggestions
Regarding Polls in Suggestions is unnecessary and "I support" = SPAM and Pragmatism vs Idealism can be merged. Also a deleted sticky in here which is lame.

It's kinda pointless me going through all of them though since everyone is likely going to have a different opinion of which stickies are necessary and which aren't.

 

I am more than willing to adjust these and PM Superman the changes.

 

I can't commit to any drastic changes on behalf of the staff without going through a staff poll/getting admin approval. That said, I can help out with a stickied-thread audit. Though, I don't feel that we're having much of a problem with an excess of stickies (at least, it's not as bad as some time ago).

Rule of thumb: if we see more than 5 stickies in a section, we will likely some sort of take action, if not, we'll only remove/change the absolutely unnecessary/outdated stickies. If you see a section that is extremely cluttered with stickies, create a suggestion thread titled something like "Sticky Reform: Name of Section" and I'll help out.

@Jack: I've made some changes that I can defend should the occasion occur. Thanks for the suggestion.
