How Long Do You Give RS?

Hmmm id give it another 5 years or so.

 

I think that the game will still be going for the next 2 years minimum. at the moment there are usually 40k people online, and barely any of them are bots. the irony of runescape's demise is that the players caused it. they don't want any change, but they also want change. nothing you can do to please the fanbase in that kind of situation.

nowadays there are no bots and there are many ways to train that are more fun than before, but everyone hates it. people complain there aren't enough people to talk to while training (totally ignoring the use of fc/cc/irc/whatever chat) but before people complained there were too many people at the places where they were training.

I personally like the new rs a lot more than the old rs, and I bet I sound pretty odd by saying that. I actually like eoc a lot for pvm, and I'm kind of happy that pvp was ruined (just for me, not everyone) because I would waste so much time and money pvping.

I can go into what I think are the unconscious reasons for why everyone doesn't like the new rs, but they probably are pretty obvious. Like how everyone wanted to be the best at rs, but when the game changed their chance was gone to them so they left.

 

Yes them caving into peoples dumb complaints about updates and introducing 07 was horrible idea. If they would have let it be and not voted some may have quit but they would be back cuz lets face it were all addicted.

 

they removed gambling, all the hosts/bettors quited. Now they fucked up 07 staking, and its pretty dead and full of idiots... every1 is doing no movement+they want u to x for 1 attack level... i would say max 2 years...

The way I see it, the game isn't very appealing to new players. There hasn't really been a massive influx of players recently (except when 07 was released perhaps, but still not for the main game). It seems that Jagex have been trying to induce such an influx, but it hasn't worked out.

 

Max 2 years for me... I quit last year but each time I go on eocscape I see it's getting more dead by every month. Also, they just failed 07scape with "p2p" only... so many people would be joining to play the f2p ver. and people could play many more accounts. But no, p2p and 07 is dying too !

But still, Jagex ruined everything for me starting with the "armor / weapon updates" ruining things that were fine and most of my friends liked... and just more stupid updates. Now when I login, I see that every single person I have met since 2005 has left, no matter what year they started in... everyone i knew has quit. and so have I.

 

I believe it's definitely been on the decline for awhile now, but I don't think it'll phase out completely. They're trying to bring new content and updates, and people are definitely addicted.

 

For the people that are new to RS, their nostalgic RS will be RS3.
They are playing RS3 and learning it just like we did in OSRS.
I believe they will have a clientele base for EOC in the next couple years. Plus all the people that they will have paying membership for OSRS

 

Got any reasons you believe this? I'd be interested to know. I get that they keep bringing in updates, but it feels like the numbers on RS are still dropping.

 

Since 2002 it has been thriving, but seriously its coming to an end soon and everybody is aware....max 2 years more.

they thought giving the option to reset your 99 for x amount of times and re-training it will get players to keep playing lmfao.

 

if this supposed prestige is brought into the game, it will truly be the end, i'd give the game 4 months

 

Amen. I totally agree with this! The only difference really is its a mainly PVM game and not PVP. If you look at the history of RuneScape, they never really intended for PVP to be their main activity, you can start to see them drifting away from PVP with GWD.

Amount of players dropped by far but i think they still got a few years left, reason being the amount of pixeladdicts.

 

If they release prestige its pretty much game over because I feel as if the only people that still play are just addicted rank gainers and not any new people. They should aim to retain the people they have instead of pushing their loyals away in failed attempts to gain more players. Not sure how they don't learn from their mistakes such as EoC which tried the same concept but ended up losing a large percentage of their player base.
