R2 logic: The gold is probably stolen so I shouldn't have to pay for it

Staff was gonna make me pay him full $750, I tried to defend myself. Everyone has the right to a defense. I disagreed with their view on the situation personally, I felt he should have split the amount reset since it never left his account. There's no other precedent for that situation that I know of on Sythe. Either way, I was at the Staff's mercy and I think if anything people have a bias against me in disputes, not for me. If staff decided I owed $750, I have to pay $750 and accept the decision.

Since I was already responsible for the gold, I don't see what the difference is if the GP is banned / unbanned. The seller was getting paid regardless. Despite me looking into the guy's sketchy past, there was nothing which linked a Blue Phat to him on the Hackforums accounts. Most of the things I saw were little trades. I did not have time to go through everything piece by piece. If someone comes into a jewelry shop and sells a gold ring, you don't refuse them service just because they have a criminal record. You'd need proof it was actually stolen, not just defamation of character.

I am not sure what I could have found if I spent hours digging up on Traxar. The situation never came to that point, he was unbanned on RS before I went really deep. It's not expected for me to do a 5 hour background check on someone everytime I buy gp. Prior to the trade on Skype I had never spoken with him before, and knew nothing about him.

 

i hate to admit it, but he was expected to pay for it when it was banned. even if he stated that the loss would be shared. but if the account got banned again, wouldnt he still be liable? i saw the 2 points each side was making, and i was part of one of them. id have done the same thing r2p did if i was going to have to pay the full amount if the account was banned in my possession. i mean if it gets banned again, it would probably mean r2p had to pay the guy.

Yeah exactly, if the char had been banned again, Traxar would have done whatever he could to get me to cover it. I could see Sythe mods saying that even though it was unbanned with gp on it, the seller had no chance to xfer the GP safely since I caused it to get surveyed by Jagex. If I was expected to pay for it while it was banned, there's no way the situation should change if the GP is unbanned.
