is this a good computer?

Don't know much about it. Would you buy it? How much would you pay?

The parts are around $950 brand new, significantly less if they're used. That being said I'm sure you could haggle a little bit either way. Its a decent computer but you (or I cough) could build something better for the same price. Are you buying it from a person? I'd see how cheap they'd be willing to let it go for, if you could bump off a couple hundred dollars it could be a pretty great buy.

 

Yeah, gfx is one of the weak spots there.

I would not pay over $700 for this machine (new). If you are looking for an under $1K build, I can help you select parts, the only thing is what you want to do with it. Are we talking Skyrim max settings, or casual minecraft?

 

I had to put my foot in my mouth on that one, I didn't look that carefully at the graphics card when I was posting. I believe the 7770 was a downgrade to the card already listed.

 

I'm not too familiar with AMD hardware. If you were willing to change over to Intel / Nvidia hardware instead and a budget I could pick out a good system for you.

 

WOuld still prefer a 7990 if you have the cash.

 

That computer is worth 500 bucks tops in my honest opinion, including the monitor.

The processor is $100 and is a decent chip for the price, but you can do much better.

Ram will run ~$60.

Mobo was probably around $70.

You can get a new 4tb hard drive for around $100 these days.

The GPU is mediocre, I would invest in a 7990 when they go on sale. I just got one for under 200 and am rather fond of it.

Monitor is worth $70 max used.

You should invest 700 or 800 in learning and building your own machine. I did that a year and a half ago and never regretted it. A lot of people on Sythe can help!

I say 600 is overpriced. 500 is decent if you want a low-mid end system but you could do better I think. I would still considering building a system.

 

Ok well I picked it up from my buddy and I paid $320. Idk why I bought it. Not much of a gamer. I'll probably throw it up on Craigslist in the morning and try to make a few bucks. Any cheap things I could do to sell it faster and for more?

yeah its good the only thing i noticed is the graphics card is covering up 3/6 of the SATA plugs which kinda sucks.

 

If you can find a brand new 7990 for under like $400 (which happens when people have sales), then use that. It will be a huge plus to anyone looking at the computer, and it adds a crapload of value to it.

Aa for what you paid, not a bad deal at all if it is all in working condition without any damages.

 

i don't really want to sink another $400 into it. unless of course i could get more out of it.

you guys were saying i could get ~$500 out of it as it sits if i added the new gfx card for $400 i would need to get $1000 to make it worth it.

now that i look at pictures of it it would probably cover all 6 of the sata plugs...

 

You probably could get $1,000 out of it as the majority of people don't know how to shop and a 7990 is around $700 new *usually*

You just have to shop smart for a sale.

If you aren't willing to wait on the card, then just sell it as is and make a nice $180, still not a bad profit.

 

yeah i cant get the card in there... it needs a min of a 850w psu only have a 650 in there.
