Is it 'wrong' for a man to hit a woman?

I would never hit a woman; period. If for whatever reason she is trying to hit me I would simply hold her so she wouldn't. I mean of course i'm not gonna just stand there and let her hit me, but I would never hit her back. I would just feel like the biggest piece of shit ever to live.

Yes it is wrong for a man to hit a woman, but if she is just hitting you you have to sit on her and stop her and make her stupid ass calm down.

 

I still think everyone in this thread is hilarious. Sit on her, hold her down, what the hell? I used the example of the trained female fighter attacking you. You're not pinning her down or sitting on her. She is going to beat you to a pulp and you're going to have no option but to defend yourself or take it. Chivalry is dead and most women are just as capable as men. Saying 'I shan't touch women' is as sexist as it comes

 

a man should never lay hands on a woman, I think it's weak and cowardly: women are physically weaker than men.

Women aren't necessarily physically weaker than men, that's you being indoctrinated by society and such things. If men have fights and get hit for their wrong doing then why should this be different for women? We're just sending a massive 'piss us off nothing will happen' signal to them. I've witnessed a girl hitting a guy purely down to the fact that he wouldn't hit back; that's true cowardliness.

 

I would absolutely, without a doubt hit a woman if I had ample reason to. Same as with a man.

The only way I could see it as acceptable in my own POV is if it's being done solely in a defensive manner to the point where the male is seriously worried for their own safety and need to give some sort of response to the point they feel safe again.

 

My hands are bisexual. However, I will do whatever it takes to get out of the situation or restrain a woman.

I hate to see men be so quick to retaliate or assault a woman. We generally have more strength, faster reflexes and superior fighting skills, so we should be able to defend ourselves without fighting a woman like she is a man.

EDIT: To those saying you would NEVER hit a woman, I feel you have not experienced this world enough. There are certain situations where a woman can pose a serious threat to a man.

Define "real man".

I'd like to propose the following scenario: you are walking the streets at night alone after a night out drinking or at the club, or just studying at university like I was 2 nights ago when I walked for 10 minutes to get food at midnight. All of a sudden a woman walks up to you and attempts to mug you - she may sucker punch you or pull a knife on you, or she may just in general be threatening your wellbeing.

Myself, I'm an academic. I'm not a fitness freak. Physically I'm actually quite weak. In other words, the gender stereotype in my case is actually completely reversed. I'm quiet, reserved, and usually a pacifist. Should I not even attempt to defend myself? Should I just sit there and take physical abuse and the latent trauma afterward simply because I happened to be born in to this world with a penis?

People like you who subscribe to gender binary as if it's set in stone are one of the many, many problems with this world. By your definition, I presume (keyword, presume) I am not a "real man", and that is actually deeply offensive and dehumanising. Shame on you.

I hope the people saying that women are "weaker" then men and shouldn't be hit back is offensive to women. You're basically stating that women never pose a threat to a man under any circumstance.

I was raised that it was wrong to hit a woman, but that's wrong. It's wrong to hit ANYONE, being abused/attacked isn't gender specific.

If i was attacked by a woman, if someone i loved was being attacked by a woman or they generally posed a thread to my well being i would not hesitate to defend myself or my loved ones. Some of you clearly have not lived life or have been sheltered from the violence in the real world. Pull up a youtube video of "McDonalds attack" or something of the sort and you'll see that women are/can be as strong as men and WILL cause bodily harm given the chance to.

 

No one should hit anyone. If a woman hits a man, surely the man can defend himself, and vice versa. If a man can punch a man, and expect to be punched back (as he should), why would it be any different if the genders were reversed?

 

Men are stronger than women is just a stereotype. And as all stereotypes go, it's not always true. I've been told many times by BOTH males and females you shouldn't hit a girl. The gender influence really needs to end.

I agree, if a woman has this strange idea in her head she can physically attack me with no repercussions simply because of some sort of unwritten rule of I can't hit her back, then I'm going to lay her out. Just like I would with anybody else. Equal rights comes with equal lefts.

 

This goes beyond any law. This is a moral issue. I was taught that this is wrong and I believe myself that hitting a woman is wrong.
