Game to youtube help?

For a while now i've been trying to record and upload some commentary/playthrough videos to youtube and I seem to have run into every issue possible. Recording the wrong size, the wrong format, jittery/laggy recordings, 2+ hour upload times and loads more. I'd really appreciate any advice from anyone experienced as to how I can tackle these issues? I've played some games which aren't graphically demanding at all and some which are, and I seem to get just as much playback lag with both. I've also been using mainly My mac to do this on. It's a new model with an i5 processor, so I don't think it's an issue there. Also in terms of recording, if someone could tell me exactly what settings I need to record, it'd be much appreciated. Either way any advice that can make this easier for me would be great!

okay so If I use my PC instead win8 i5 processor. Is that enough?
I play anything from diablo 3, CoD, Rs07 etc...

Any help? I have installed Fraps, what are the best settings etc?

Edit: Also, what's best for putting my videos together with on windows? I've been using Final cut on mac, but obviously if i'm recording on my PC i'd prefer to do the whole lot there.

 

I use Camtasia screen recorder. When recording the screen don't have the studio up; only have the screen recorder open (this will reduce lag drastically). Down underneath you can select a region to record and your output (WMV, MP4 etc). Follow their introduction video when you first open the software, this should give you the basics for all video making. Good luck.

 

you are better off with dxtory, fraps records in such huge chunks that if you write speed isn't fast enough its going to skip frames.

what HDD do you have?

 

Thanks for all the help! Sorry I have no idea what kind of HDD i have, I'll try to find out. I know the mac has a solid state drive, would that cause issues when recording?
What I can say is that I have 1.6TB spare of space, and I'm running windows 8,
and The computer has an i5 processor

Also, has anyone got any 'ratings' for Song Vegas as an editing software?

I have to say Sony Vegas is a must have for any (serious) video maker; I use it on a day to day basis. It's also a great variation from pen to paper in school projects. It's relatively easy to use, if you struggle with anything there'll be tutorials and such. You can also PM me with any issues you have.
