Do you think OldSchRunescape will grow?

After the initial boom from everyone trying 07Runescape it's seems to have died down. However do you think it will grow back to near its peak height?

I think it needs to be released to f2p, this would probably boost membership sales due to alot more accounts being made (obviously some would be bots)

Also i think they should get creative and try making new quests not in rs3, but obviously don't release new combat wep's as that normally screws things up.

What do you think?

I'm guessing the guys at Jagex already have the plan of F2P servers. I would say they are going to wait for OSRS to die a little bit and then revamp with the new F2P servers. (Gaining as much cash from the first hype before creating another)

 

Jagex aren't going to release F2P as RS3 will die, and that's their main game still. They use OSRS as a way to make money.

 

Rs3 won't die exactly, some people wont even try OSRS as some people came and played well after gwd's trade limit and all that s**t. Plus alot of people will alternate between the two.

I think people are forgetting how big f2p pking is, alot of people used to make fresh accounts get enough magic for the first fire spell and just pk with that for a single night then go back to there mains

 

What I don't get is that even if RS3 is their main game, if more people want to play OSRS then surly it only makes sense to put more focus on it.

 

It's hard to say that Jagex doesn't care about their players, since they released osrs. But...Jagex just doesn't care about their players.

 

It really baffles me how many people think that adding F2P will HELP 07. F2P is nothing more than a botting ground and trial version of the game for people who will eventually become members. F2P makes up such a negligent portion of the community, the only thing that it will bring is a mass flood of bots, it offers nothing to new players, because any new players will come from the live game anyway.

That still doesn't contribute to the long term growth of the 07 servers, like you said, "for a single night", and that person was already an existing player.

now it's averaging maybe 10k players which is still ~ 70k/month "extra" if they hadn't released it?

 

07 is for jagex's back pocket as such, it won't be f2p as otherwise the main (favourite) game in their eyes, will lose popularity! Otherwise, in years with poor updates, people will grow tired no matter what they might say and it may die

 

It's hard to say but they are indeed active when it comes to listening to the Oldschool community as far as updates are concerned. I believe as long as it's included in the price of the standard membership fee there will always be a steady amount of users actively playing OSRS.

As suggested before there are multiple ways they could increase this thus increasing their profits. For one, F2P being available would give normal players a sense of the '07 game and, possibly, encourage them to upgrade for all of what's available. On the other hand F2P worlds might be a completely free alternative for the gold-farming bots; not having to pay the Membership fees on their accounts while still grinding (less but still possible) in-game gold means it's 100% profit for them.

I'm personally hoping the Godwards Dungeon will attract a wave of interest into OSRS.

 

What do you guys think of jagex releasing things into OSRS that were never back in the day? E.g they make a new quest or something

Activity hasn't decreased noticably since a month after the servers came out, 1/3 of active players are on 07 rather than eoc.
