    Unauthorized Dispute

Hey, so recently someone posted an Unauthorized Claim dispute against me, claiming that they sent a payment that they did not authorize. The funds in my Paypal account have been temporarily held until the issue is resolved.

When I go to the resolution center to provide my information to them to resolve it, it gives me three options:

    1. I will provide shipping information (tracking information to prove I sent the item).

    2. I have not shipped the item and I have refunded the buyer.

    Or,

    3. I have refunded the buyer.

Obviously I'm not going to pick option 2 or 3, because I'm not refunding him.

How do I win this case? I don't have shipping information, because it was a transaction through dicing on here. What do I tell them? Do I just wait and hope they don't find enough evidence to support an unauthorized claim? I'm not sure what to do.

    Thanks for any responses. :)

Do you have evidence he acknowledged the purchase or service?

Just letting you know if this was a virtual trade, you lost your money.

Paypal won't protect you with those, even with proof.

However, if your paypal is verified and you give paypal a call, ask the steps you need to complete in order to have a chance with this case and you have to tell them it's a virtual trade (if it is) or else you're fucked later on.

Well, no, besides posts on Sythe and Skype converstaions.

That's odd. It doesn't really make sense, because he filed a dispute saying that someone used his account to send a transaction without his authorization - why would the trade being virtual have anything to do with that? Plus, I've had friends who have won these things through virtual trades before. Not sure how.

You'll more then likely loose. The fact it's virtual goods has nothing to do with the outcome of your dispute, unless he was claiming he didn't receive the item in question. Since you have no REAL proof (ID) that he authorised the transactions, paypal will more then likely close the dispute in his favour.

As for which option you're to choose it would be option 1, there is be a section called something along the lines of 'prove further information, upload addition proof' something like that. That'll be the option you choose, but as I said you'll more then likely loose.. :/

I'm just saying. If the trade was a virtual trade, you're most likely going to lose automatically. They will either close the case in the buyers favor because you aren't protected under paypal because they don't support virtual trades or let it go til the end. Your friends are very lucky then.

It will never be closed in your favor, unless you do something.

You can Google UPS tracking information to his location and put it in there, which might help you but usually as long as it says "unauthorized claim" your money is gone.

As the e-mail will be "Unfortunately unauthorized claims filed through banks cannot be reversed" and they will charge your balance.

    BR,
    Bobby.

even with evidence that you gave the buyer the virtual goods, you will still lose. Even when even they can tell that the person disputing is a scammer...you will still lose. Been there and it's happened all the time.

Well, lol, even though all of you said no matter what I did, or if I did nothing, I would lose. I ended up winning the case. They were unable to find evidence that he did not provide authorization.

    So, ended up working out.

Well, he provided no proof in his dispute. He just filed a claim, that's it.

Maybe the person filing the dispute against you knew what he was doing. I don't think mine did.

people can claim unauthorised by a click of a button. You don't see the evidence he provides I believe. I guess he was just hopping he'd get lucky.

Yes, I did nothing, and within 2 days they closed the dispute in my favor. The only thing I can assume is that he provided no evidence, so there was no chance he was going to win. Not sure what else could have swung them my way.

I'm intrigued how you won the case, as I've never won an unauthorised dispute case, as paypal usually just say that they don't offer protection for virtual goods and the buyer always gets the benefit of the doubt. You were very lucky.
