I gave no support considering a mini-rank would be fine but a rank itself is something people use to determine if a member is 'trusted' or not, it's not our fault but it's a general consensus amongst new comers.

 

Voted no. If you really cared about the community you wouldn't want a rank to prove it.

A rank shouldn't determine if you're helpful or not.

Community development should progress because you want to, not because you have to.

I'm on the fence about this. Users get to jittery over ranks.

 

No. This will definitely make newer members of the forum mistake them as moderators or highly trusted members.

 

People that enter in CDT are already trusted. We don't just accept anyone in the team. The rank wouldn't say moderator in it.

 

I agree, I would trust all members in CDT except for that Roary kid. Watch out for him.... he's sketchy af. They do deserve a rank for their hard work in uniting the community.

 

To put things in a different perspective:

Moderators are chosen from being friendly, trustworthy and for helping the community (usually)

The criteria for CDT isn't that much different albeit to a lesser degree.

As long as emphasis is placed on the ranks not indicating trust and forbidding people having like [CDT] in their market thread titles and what-not, then it should be good.

 

I guess I see your points. I support this as long as they do not take advantage of the rank, as I'm sure none will.

 

I think it should be more transparent before they get a rank.

 

Making a rank for it = mod wanna-be's joining just for the rank. Was the same with UE. Honestly, may as well just change the name from "CDT" to "Staff in training".

 

How do you think people join CDT? Can you explain me the process?

 

People apply, its voted on. Its not rocket science. Its just like UE, and just like staff. I really don't care if it works out that there is a rank or not; I'm just saying for those who have been around long enough to know how UE was, thats the way it is going to be for the most part.

 

I think the generic response of people will join for the rank and if you were here before you'd understand is ignorant and outdated.

I don't see why some select individuals are unable to fathom that there is harsh stipulated process before being accepted, and it's a majority vote. Adding to that, N4N0 and Roary are the CDT leaders, both admins, and both whom carry heavy weight in terms of which candidates are accepted.

If a rank was to be awarded, nothing would change. In fact the process would be scrutinised even further.

It's clear anyway, just look at the poll.

Like I said, if a rank is given, its going to be a carbon copy of UE. Which isn't really a big deal, just realize the inevitable shift of focus of the applicants going from selflessly trying to help the community to trying to get a rank. I just see no reason to fix something that isn't broken really.

 

There's nothing wrong with a little incentive for a lot of effort put in to the site.

People won't apply for the rank, because we can see beyond an application what sort of person someone is. It'll be blatantly clear who has good or bad intention.

Second, all upper-staff take part in the decisions, so if there's any hint of doubt of someone just wishing to abuse their power, then such people wont get selected.

Lastly, it wont be a freebie. There will have to be a considerable amount of work done in and out of the CDT section to back-up a rank. There may only be 2/3 people eligible on the team at the present time.

So why bother? Because incentive only encourages our current members to do more and not be disheartened by the negativity that surrounds being on the team. Sure, we can always just throw out those who don't contribute what they could - but eventually if we keep doing that, bearing in mind there are only a few dozen members who actually meet the criteria we look for who are consistent, CDT will just be a joke with members who are just there for the sake of being there.
