How much security does your household have?

We live in a good neighborhood but because of this, we have a lot of break-ins in the area. Hence:

• 2m+ high fences and gates to back garden.
• Movement-activated floodlights; one in the front garden and one at either end of the rear garden (which is pretty huge).
• All of our windows are double glazed UPVC.
• Reinforced UPVC/double glazed doors with multiple bolts and latches.
• Movement sensors downstairs.
• Full alarm system, set up to notify the police if it isn't deactivated within 30 seconds.
• 4 CCTV camera linked up to my bedroom, with the only ways into the house without being caught on CCTV being through my two windows (and still, it's near impossible, the route you'd have to take would need to be perfect).
• CO2 pistol kept within reach in my bed to scare off intruders.

Think that's it!

 

I live in Canada. If we see a burglar outside, we unlock the door and invite him in. Its kind of our thing.

 

Quoted for the truth. If were being robbed we try and talk them out of robbing us by being nice. If they still want to rob us we apologize for wasting their time and allow them to pillage our belongings.

 

Basically my security consists of one thing; insurance. We get robbed, we welcome them in, encourage them to take everything. We then enjoy all of our new shiny goodies.

 

A pitbull and myself and roomie both having guns. Never had an issue, dog is mainly it since we both work. I wouldnt mess with a big mean looking pitt either.

Door and window alarms, motion sensors, and two video cameras. Also have two dogs, a fence, and three guns if that helps at all.

Only reason we have that much is because my father is an art dealer and we'd be fucked if we got robbed.

Damn, where I live they're illegal apart from 'red nose' pit-bulls. Where I live it's very rough and people use them to fight their own battles which is for cowards. I don't see the harm in having them there for sentimental and security value though. I live in England if you were wondering.

 

The place where I live in ain't that safe, but it ain't that dangerous either.
We have a strong metal built door, with locks and all. I'm sure no one will break that thing down in the middle of the night.

Pretty impressive setup, my suggestion would be (even if you're against having an actual gun) keeping an unloaded shotgun (it could even be filled in or something). Racking a shotgun is a pretty good deterrent if you ask me..

 

I have a door and i close it so noone gets in.

 

Used to have an alarm system, but it kept going off and I had to remove it. Added bars on the rooms and steel doors.

Personally, none. Just a door with a lock. It is rarely locked, even when no one is home. We only have a camera focusing on the palm trees. One time, we left the garage door open all night and nothing happened. We do live in a gated community so that does help.
