Poor Roary, I've been bugging the shit out of him all day and he's been cooperative the entire time, while conversing with me he still manages to be active within the community.

Nicest lad I've talked to online, well deserved promotion.

Bump - more interested in what people think I should do better/more of/start doing.

 

First time ever speaking to Roary was a few days ago, and he was incredibly helpful and friendly, and listened to my input. Honestly there's not much more I could have asked. The topic wasn't even one of his specialities and yet he still helped.

I apologise if I've not been as active as usual the past week or so, started College and just getting in to the swing of things - change unsettles me somewhat. As well as this, I'm ill at the moment, so not doing more than is necessary.

 

Where to start, when I first joined this website roary was one of the first mods I spoke to, he was helpful back then and even till this day helpful and friendly.

Why did you close his thread? There is no evidence of him trying to guess another users answers. Locking it with the assumption that he can successfully recover an account with one recovery question is a bit outrageous.

 

Because we're not going to help someone BLATANTLY try to recover accounts. If it was his account he wouldn't need them to remove them/recover it. It's not enough for a ban as, as you say there's no proof, but that sort of thing isn't allowed nor encouraged. It's like helping someone guess a password to an account.

The account is over 10 years old. Regardless of me saving a document or piece of paper with all of my information on it, as time goes on the chances of me remembering an answer i created 10 years ago is extremely unlikely.

He's not asking to guess a password, username, credit card - he's asking for an answer to the title of a game that could be years old.

If he was asking for multiple answers to different questions I would agree, one title... That's a bit ambitious.

 

Then that's your problem and not ours, I definitely wont encourage helping users guess confidential account information. Sorry

However, one question is far from enough to permit access, unless he's the world's greatest RuneScape hacker.

If locking a thread due to the inability of remembering what game you've set as a recovery question is considered malicious intent the same example could be demonstrated for users asking help with charge-backs in Help & Requests, which you don't lock.

 

It's completely different. I don't care if he wants one answer or all of them, we can't allow some and not others. He can sort it himself with Jagex.
