Whatsup with all the text-layering

I tend to see a lot of text layering, afaik made using C4D, but why? I'm getting kinda tired of the effect.

I tried making the same thing in photoshop (simplicityversion that is)



it is possible in photoshop too depending on the perspective you want it to be (+ less CPU ), but most sigs I see have the above one

 

It can look very appealing when everything plays out correctly in the image. The one you've done in Photoshop isn't really on par with some of the other ones I've seen.

 

Well sometimes it can look really good depending on how it's used.

 

It just gives it some depth to help make it stand out.

I dont especially like it either.

 

Not my favorite design technique from the start yet it's what the brain dead masses want. Any homogeneous product that uses a certain style gets boring eventually.

People use c4d instead of photoshop for 3d text because it kicks photoshop's ass. You can have better lighting & materials which ultimately make it look more realistic. For modelling there are so many more capabilities with c4d also such as with intro's on youtube, etc.

 

You will never acheive the same 3d effect using photoshop rather then Cinema4D. Cinema4D was designed to model things that aren't flat (2d) they have features like great realistic lighting, unique layer styles, you can create all sorts of materials etc.

Jack covered most of this, in conclusion try using the program that has more of an advantage in the style you are trying to create and you will produce a better outcome.

ie. Cinema4D for modeling
Photoshop for interface, touch ups, flat desgings (alot more photoshop is beast)
Ilustrator for drawing, vectors etc.

 

It's just a stupid trend. tbh. I can create better 3d than anything I have seen on this forum using photoshop, or illustrator for that matter.
