Mini-Ranks in "General - Off Topic" Section

I know I'm new, and this idea may have already been presented, but I think Mini-Ranks specific to certain sections of the topic section could really increase traffic and give people more of a reason to post. I know some sections already have ranks (Spam, Sandbox, etc...) but I think ranks for the General - Off Topic section would be great. Getting a mini-rank for participating in the Movies/Television section or Sports/Fitness would be neat in my opinion.

Thoughts?

Why not get just rid of all the stupid and pointless miniranks and actually implement miniranks that will benefit the site as a whole and give people some incentive to actually post and discuss topics (as the were originally designed for btw), instead of just letting minirank whores collect more and more to feed their ego? (sorry johng -.-)

 

I was thinking this the other day, I mean LoL discussion gives a minirank, but Runescape discussion doesn't? I would be for the removal of all sf miniranks and keep the ones that hold an incentive, IE community participant etc.

 

I would LOVE a Runescape minirank, like 110% support.
Although there needs to be a limit on how many miniranks you can have showing because it looks rather stupid having 15 showing.

 

And again, this is where Moh's point system should come into play...

Qft. I think more participation miniranks are a good idea as far as actually encouraging activity rather than just in the spam forum. It could be argued that it would lead to spam in other sections but as long as moderation stays as it is that can be handled. Then people will be forced to make sensible posts to get the participation minirank.

Also, runescape mini rank plz.

 

More posts is good. The moderators can handle more spam. It just means more mod scores to go around.

 

Less pointless mini-ranks more participation mini-ranks.

Lol no support. The "pointless" mini ranks are collector's items and are reward for competitions and stuff.

 

i thought the purpose of the ranks were just to supposed to be for fun, and not any type of incentive? If they are supposed to serve a purpose, then i agree with removing some of the stupid ones.

 

When I suggested mini-ranks I suggested them for a purpose of being an incentive and being there for those things that people think deserve recognition but not a rank e.g. (CDT Member, Event Participant - like on pbot, Sythe Award Winner)

 

I support this and I believe there should be more mini ranks for more sections. It would make people want to post around more and hopefully bring up more intelligent debates.

Yeah. Only problem is Sythe himself has decided that he doesn't want to get rid of the useless mini-ranks. At least now though he has restricted them to only being given out in those sand box competitions instead of being given out willy-nilly which is the best we can hope for it seems.
