I don't know what that triangle means, I think you're just makin' sheet up.

The triangle means that you need to take the multiplicative inverse. i.e. ^2 = 1/2. Its a triangle because ancient babylonians didnt believe in fractions, but people like Euler and them still wanted to work in Q (The rationals), so they came up with different notation.
