    Dad bought me new laptop.

    Hello

So basicly i'm starting my last year now, before going to college. For college I will need a new laptop,
and I don't really know very well what kind of laptops are good.

The thing is now, my dad bought a laptop for me that was on fast sale at a shop. The laptop is a ASUS with a

    - AMD A4-3300M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 1.90 GHz processor
    - 4 GB Ram
    -64 BIT

Now the thing is he bought it for 199 euros, but when I asked my friend who is
good with computer if this laptop is any good, he said
it will basicly not be good enough and it will work like shit if I would use this for school.

Now i don't want to dissapoint my dad by going to him and saying it and being ungrateful.

What should i do? Wait till i finish this year and than talk to him about it being a bad laptop,
and that I need a beter one for school? ( I will work and pay it myself ofcourse ).
And is this laptop any good? What kind of stuff could i run on here.

It feels like 199 euro's thrown away in the trash can. And I think he won't be able to bring it back anyway.

Well it depends for the sort of use you'll give it really. If you'll simply be using it for college work, writing homeworks or shit like that I don't really think you need some 'super' pc or anything. With that laptop you should be fine. If you plan on gaming or something like that, then yes with that computer you are somewhat screwed.

Hey, The laptop is not that bad...
    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/amd-fusion-intel-core-i3_7.html
This will cheer you up! Your CPU ran FC2 on 720 at Med with 32fps, that's good! Also, it ran Dirt 3 on Med 720p at 29FPS so you're fine! It does render and edit and such, but you have to wait longer.
Ignore your friend! If you opened the laptop and used it, rate it yourself.

It will work just fine for school stuff. Maybe a bit slow, but it will work.

Depends on what you'd like to do with your laptop. It'll run Microsoft Office and the internet, really all you need as a student if you aren't technology oriented. But then again, you are a member of Sythe so I should assume you enjoy gaming and such. If you plan on gaming, you need to upgrade to something much more powerful. You'd need a stronger processor, more ram, etc.

As for letting your dad know.. That depends on whether or not you need the upgrade (no shit) but I'd say if you need the upgrade let him know. Maybe you can still return it?

That's more than enough for school unless you're doing graphic design or something. Sure it's not gonna run new games on max settings, but it will do all the word processing and internet research that you need.

    Your friend is an idiot.

Thank your dad and give him a hug.

The laptop your dad gave you is a good laptop for school don't listen to other people what they say because they don't know anything they just like to talk crap. So the laptop your dad bought for you is a good laptop and is capable to do any much you wanted to do.

Well, try it and if it doesn't work then you can talk to him about it. There's no harm in that.

Firstly you should be gratefull and thank your father, second of all for study/school wise it seems good and the fact it was cheap makes it great mainly because it will so what its suppost to do without spending a thousand for a simple overpriced laptop like a mac.

Im just going to say the blunt truth, it isnt really designed for gaming, and if it was me in your situation i would have done like i currently did, which was keeping my laptop strictly school only(programs files etc) and spent 450$ to build a gaming pc (if you're into gaming)
