why hockey is better then soccer.

list of reasons why ive never been able to watch or play a full game of soccer:

the field is extremely big, which creates the ability to simply kick the ball back to a defender. Which then means countless terrible entries, that continually cycle.

the players have a habit of flopping ALOT! Soccer players are continually caught in absolutely terrible flops. I mean were talking 2-5ft away from each other. Its embarrassing and a trashy move. i understand all sports have "floppers" but soccer takes the cake by a mile.

yellow/red cards- are we fucking serious? we need cards in a sports game? I might be wrong but i believe soccer is the only sport to use this method. I only keep up with the major american ones though so i am probably wrong.

soccer players attitudes- why have 1? no1 cares that you play soccer lol They constantly bitch and argue, none of them have the capacity to actually throw a decent punch. (i have seen many kicks and headbutts tho) wtf is with taking your shirt off after every goal? yes we get to see 120lb half grown men with no chests run around some more.

Getting kicked in the shin fucking hurts. WHo the fuck wants to experience this? it would enrage me to the point of beating the fuck out of the other teams player. id most certainly earn so good yellows n reds.

overall most americans care very little for soccer. Its perceived as a pussies sport. I must say it does live up to its reputation.

hockey is the shit, perfect team sport. The rings are good size for the amount of players. Creates non stop action. You can actually fucking hit someone. If bad blood is created, simply drop the gloves and explain why you insulted someones mother. Floppers dont last in hockey. Canadians dont tolerate that shit buddy. Hockey isnt all about just one player. It takes a team as a whole to win. Hockey players dont usually get caught up in the lime light to much. You never hear about them shooting up or killing anybody. Mostly level headed white people who just love the sport. ( we think black people r scared of ice) would explain why theres only like 5 in the game.

 

Here we go..
1) If you can't play an entire soccer match, you should go train some more and get some more stamina. Either that or you're doing something wrong. You're meant to pass the ball to one of your team mates, or run a few metres. You're not meant to run across the entire field yourself. Kicking the ball back to a defender is tactical. If there are too many opponents standing where you and your team want to go, aka the other side of the field, then you just wait for them to come towards you.

2) I agree on the flops. It's disrespectful, trashy, and wrong. Although it doesn't happen as much as you say it does.

3) Now, a funny one. You say Hockey is better than soccer, and put the cards as one of the reasons.
Hockey, too, has cards. Green, yellow and red. Green is a warning, with yellow you have to leave the field for a few minutes and when you get a red one you'll have to leave the field for the entire match.

4) I'd like to see you fight Balotelli. Or any other soccer player. You said you only watch American soccer. Americans don't specialize in soccer. There's a reason America is #28 of the world. Europeans actually train their body to be good at the sport, and so they get muscular.

6) That's probably because again, America's only at #28 on the fifa ranking. Or it's because you think we stole your name. Soccer is actually called football.
Also, in Europe we have this thing called Rugby. Noone really likes it.

8) If you like hockey, go ahead and do so. Just don't flame other sports. Though I'd like to tell you that soccer is still far more popular than Hockey. Worldwide around 240 million people play soccer as a registered member, as opposed to 3 million who play hockey.

Anyone who claims soccer is better than hockey should check out a vid of Greg Campbell.

Guy breaks his femur blocking a shot, stays on the ice for 1 minute+ and than crawls his way off the ice without assistance. Meanwhile soccer players act like they have a lower pain threshold than a six year old girl.

I'm not claiming soccer (or "football") is a "bad" sport, just stating my preference.

1. Try playing a whole hockey game. I used to play hockey as a kid and I've never sweat harder before than playing hockey, and I played competitive soccer at one point, too.

I think OP must have been rejected for his school soccer team. Soccer must be so inferior that it is practically the #1 sport in most nations outside of North America and even there it is growing quickly.

The beauty of soccer is that you can play it almost anywhere if you have something to kick. That could be anything from a pig's bladder to a drinks can. Unlike hockey where you need hockey sticks and an ice rink if you're playing ice hockey.

As for the cards, they are designed to stop problems with the language barrier between competing teams and the referee. They are used in many sports including athletics, rugby and hockey.

 

Soccer is a full contact sport, fella. If you'd ever played on any decent level, you'd know that.

And flops, which I, too, disrespect, are always tactical for some reason. There's also a penalty for flopping if it's perceived as such.

As someone who's played both hockey and soccer for over five years each, I vastly prefer soccer for multiple reasons. I'm not going to waste my time getting into them because your first post is practically trolling, though.

And no, I wasn't bad at hockey. Quite good, actually, usually top two in skill on my travel team in New York.

 

My reasons for hockey being better, in no specific order:

Contact-Both checking and fighting, makes the game much more exciting to watch, and more intense to play.

Speed-Compared to the average speed of someone running in soccer, hockey is played at such a quick pace.

Space-Personally, I find that the size of a soccer field makes games have a much lower level of action.

Shots-Soccer games have very few shots, where hockey games can have upwards of fifty. Scoring is exciting, and when I watch a soccer game that ends in a 0-0 tie I'd rather take a nap.

Diving-People have covered this enough already, but seriously?
