Near Reality- hosting it's first 5v5 tournaments, no cost buy-in and $250 prize pool

Hey everyone, Near Reality started out as a RSPS in 2008, and after a great run the server closed in January of this year. However, our community decided to stick through the hardship and become a gaming forum. After months of planning, I'm glad to announce that sign-ups for our first 5v5 tournament has recently opened up.

The event will start on: 2013-09-20.
The buy in (per player): 15 forum credits (these are gained by posting a comment with more than 10 words, this is to get the forums active and credits are 100% free)
    Prize pool: 250 USD

This tournament is open to all skill levels, as more people join we will be able to start hosting new types of tournaments including 1v1's, 2v2's, and 3v3's.

Only if I still had my team. Good luck with the tournament.

I miss all my Lime Whips. It's unfortunate what transpired, but still interesting to me that it was shut down and '07 was released not long after.

If I had a 5v5 team, I would surely join.

    Thanks for the information.

In a way it may be advertising, but it is not for the sale of any goods/services as the Tournament is free. Also, as per the Sythe rules, it falls in to the guidelines of "legitimate purpose in doing so that benefits Sythe", as this tournament can benefit Sythe members (though it is off-site...).

The Staff may interpret it differently, but this is another great opportunity for the community to get involved, as well as benefit from $250 prize pool if your team wins.

Unfortunately, I doubt there are many people on Sythe that have a 5v5 team available to join the tournament, and with the current Tournament being run by Stickly, I doubt this will get much attention.

Huh, I remember NR. Do you need 10 recent posts, or can I use my old account from 2010?

You can use the LoL forums, the NR forums, or these forums to try to find a team.
Yes, we feel the reason we where shut down is the old school server that was released. But we are still trying to keep an active community.

I was hoping people would interpret it like this, we aren't selling anything and lets be honest, a LOT of NRGP was sold on this site, NR being successful has, and will continue, to benefit these forums. This is because many NR players still use this site for other games.

You can use your old account, but you still need to get your credits up to 15 to register.

I don't really know why selling NRGP was against the rules anyway, pretty much all the NR staff actively spawned and sold items themselves lol.

    Doesn't this Art?

Personally I feel like this isn't advertising - It's more of an option for our LoL forum users to win some money. Mods can remove the links to turn it into a purely conversational thread, though :p
