I'm planning to play Vladimir again as I see potential in him. I was just wondering if he's better played in the top lane or mid lane?

Vladimir is my favorite champion to play right now, except maybe tryndamere. I definitely think he is better top lane. Any questions about him?

I definitely agree with top lane - Vlad is a farmfest kind of champ who becomes a complete beast late with 350+ cs after around 30 minutes

Started playing vlad 2 weeks ago, and find him super fun. He's harass, sustain and mid game surge is great fun.

I generally start dorans shield/pot>vamp. Everything then on is situational. But I'll always opt for zhonyas, deathcap, void staff.

Thanks for the tips, I see some people go Spirit of the Spectral Wraith on him. Is that good or not? I used to play Vlad in like Season 2 but back then it was like all tank items on him.

I'd say top or mid tbh.

Top i generally go dorans shield + red pot into spirit of ancient spell vamp thingy xD, then spirit visage/sunfire cape for tankiness/dps.

Thanks for replying. But I kind of asked either top or mid :p LOL
A lot of people seem to start Dorans Shield. I was planning to start Bead, 4 pots and 2 wards?

It's up to you, who you're playing vs, and your lane opponent. If they have an aggressive early jungler, I'll opt for a ward, all situational. I only played ranked, so in normals may be different, as it's care-free.

Vlad has pretty good escape if you time his W right, there is no need for 2 wards. I go 2 beads / 3 redpots when im vs a non-AA heavy opponent, and dorans/redpot when they are AA-heavy

    And lol my bad.

I'm not that great of a player, so I'll play more of a safe start. After my placements I've landed in Bronze III :(
But after awhile I've gotten out and now I'm at Silver V.

I think Vlad is viable in both lanes, but he is played top more than any lane.

Top laners don't -usually- get camped as much as mid, which allows Vlad more freedom to farm. Vlad can counter-gank fairly decent as well, and his kit of having high sustain, high health, and great damage makes him a fun and powerful champion to play.

    Good luck. :)

Thanks for the tips, I guess I shall try Vlad out and if I like him I'll try to practice him until I main him. Is he a good carry too? Like can he snowball a game?

Vlad can snowball a game incredibly well. Due to his high health, sustain, and mobility, he can trade damage well while taking little to no damage from enemy abilities.

I've seen some incredibly powerful Vlad's in games. They got a few kills and were annoyingly unstoppable. :(

Spectral Wraith is good because it's very cheap item that gives you a lot of benefits (strong spell vamp, cdr). The more cdr you have the more often you can heal so the more you'll heal up (that's why sometimes it's good to take ionian instead of sorcerer).

Vlad is very good at the top lane against melee champions but he's viable on mid lane. But there you must care of getting zoned because some champions might be very annoying there. If you're going top I'd suggest taking Ghost/Flash and if you're mid you can take Flash/Ignite so you'll be able to punish greedy enemies and run away if someone ganks you.

Definitely top lane. I don't personally enjoy playing him, but a close friend basically mains him and wins practically every matchup. Once you master him you can do so much with him :p

Thanks for all the replies! Was just wondering though, I see some people that keep using their E even if there aren't creeps/champions around to keep it stacked. Is that good or bad?

It's a great thing to do!

Keeping your E stacked deals more damage when you need to use it (4x stacks max), and since Vlad is all about building spell vamp then you heal a ton back when you eventually go into combat.

It's a really good thing to get used to doing, even though it may seem completely unnatural at first :)
