Unverified PayPal payments

I've read that accepting unverified PayPal payments isn't safe.
Is this true? If yes then why isn't it safe?

Currently I only accept Sythe donations from verified PayPal accounts. Would it make a significant difference in the amount of chargebacks if I do accept unverified PayPal payments?

Paypal buyer protection policy is the same between verified and unverified as Paypal's seller protection policy does not cover a seller if he accepts payments from an unverified Paypal account.

Unverified accounts are able to chargeback with no option to winning a case as their account is not linked to any means of payment.

Edit: In addition, it is your choice to take payment from an unverified account but personally, i wouldn't.

 

Boxer's completely right - unverified accounts are linked to little of the buyer's personal information and will win a solid 90% of chargebacks because reporting payments as unauthorized is a cinch. I wouldn't accept them if I were you.

 

Unverified Paypals are just slightly more likely to be owned by those who will chargeback. Overall always take the persons rep & what-not into account when accepting ANY paypal payment regardless if verified or not.

 

Then how would the person have money in the first place if the account isnt linked to any means of payment, anyway if they file chargeback their account gets limited

 

Unverified paypals are usually throwaway accounts for scammers looking to chargeback, but it's also possible to chargeback with a verified paypal. Either way just prove that they gave it as a donation to PP via pictures etc, and you should be able to win the case.
