    Obby maulers - worth it?

So now that I'm in the process of turning my initiate pure into a range tank (with PvM in mind as much as PvP), I'm thinking of making an obby mauler to get back into the wildy again. Anyone got experience with them? Are they still a lot of fun?

I'm thinking classic mauler, 1 att/def, and probably 70+ range for range/mail combo. Haven't made one in a long time though, so if anyone had advice it'd be welcomed. Where are the best training spots, what quests to do, what level to start doing slayer, that sort of thing.

And if anyone has/has had a mauler, I'd love to hear about them.

Hey dude, not really many quests to be doing on a Mauler other than Horror From the Deep, for god-books and such... Animal Magnetism, all the obvious ones easily available through Google. Fun factor? 8/10 it is very fun to see those big hit splats, but it gets repetitive as you have no variation in combos other than Range/Maul... Which is why I recommend 50 Attack. Best of luck my friend!

Yeah as far as the attack I'd be looking to keep it 1 as long as possible then see where it took me. Thanks!

I'd work towards getting the slayer staff first before focusing to much on str or range training. Obby maulers are a lot of fun!

dont get 70 range it effects your combat lvl to much id get 50 max using a cannon if possible or get a slayer staff (at 30 slayer do one small favor for the 2 10k xp lamps which should get you to 40 ish and get a unholy book if you can afford it atleast a book of balance

You shall find that more often that not Range may be trained to the equivalent or higher than the melee stats and remain around the same CB. He should utilize this and train Range. I recommend Guthix Book due to it being a lot cheaper and having some awesome stats. It really isn't all about attack bonuses, defense bonuses are honestly helpful - even on pures. If you have the money then Zammy Book, but if you're a little strapped for cash then definitely consider what I said because it really isn't that much worse.

I can't stress this enough, get a slayer staff. Go out and buy a cannon, get 55 slayer to obtain the staff. You won't be disappointed, trust me.
