Suggestion: Notifications

Instant notifications for:
-Private messages
-A post you have made is quoted by someone
-A reply is made to your thread

I for one, am interested to see when someone has quoted a post I've made, but rarely do I check back on ALL the threads I've posted on.

Just a thought

 

I don't think this is easy to implement but I will support it if people can also turn the notifications off.

 

Been suggested before, and been denied before. You can subscribe to the specific threads of your choosing, and you also get PM notifications each time you reload a new page.

I wouldn't be against this notion.

 

Yes but who wants to subscribe to 20 threads that they post on each day and then check back on every single one to see they've been quoted? It's just not really that practical.

 

You already get instant notifications upon receiving a PM. If you only subscribe to the threads YOU make it isn't so bad e.g. market threads and then you can set it to having instant email notifications.

The quoting thing would be neat but I doubt it would be implemented.

I would love it, Tribot does it and it works great, but i'm not sure how doable it is here.

 

Yeah same as Powerbot. But why is it not doable/easy to implement here? Is it the type of forums we run or something?

 

I am not sure how easy it would be to implement but I am basing it from them denying it in the past.

I am all for it however. Also if they made it so you got a notification (either by a notification system or a private message) for posts on your subscribed threads that would be better than email notifications imo.

I support it wouldn't be very easy to do though. But if the staff deem it should be done then I support. 100%.

There are 2 fairly big blackmarket sites mostly releated to rs. Pbot and sythe, so it's fairly copying content from the only competitor

 

@Zuzel It's not really copying another site. A lot of sites use notifications I think it's just keeping up with the times.

New suggestion: I've thought about what zuzel has said and I reckon get rid of private messaging! get rid of threads and posts, get rid of everything! because that's copying powerbot and for fuck sake, that's just not on!!!!!!

Although you're right, I like the way Sythe is different.
Powerbot, Tribot, OSBot all look the same.

I wouldn't mind either way tbh, would be a nice feature for instant updates. But I like the way Sythe is different.

 

Different yes, but lagging. There'd still be many ways in which Sythe is different and better than all the other blackmarket sites.

Also, if its been suggested and denied so many times someone should update the sticky and put this as something not to be suggested.
