Gaming Section Rework

It isn't silly at all. Do you want to go through 10 dead sections to see if there is anything worth while to see or do you want to go to one less dead section?

i'd rather atleast try to answer/engage in what little conversations that are there, then to discourage people from even posting due to no one responding.. which i guess is doing more to help then section the any of you have done lately.

Then you're just mixing multiple organizational structures. Just get rid of everything and let it form naturally.

 

tbh other games needs posters, more then anything else, merging everything still isn't going to bring posters to that section.

 

No, but it's a start. I still see gaming threads posted in off-topic, and gaming videos posted in video clips. If we could confine these threads to one simple section, and not a web of specific genre's and singling out Xbox as the "main console" that would be brilliant.

 

Very much so what Amethyst said. People don't know about Other Games and do not post there because its such a shit storm. We need to make it as simple as possible so people can see it, understand it and so that they only have to go one place to check out all gaming news instead of like 10.

I suggested just nuking the section and moving to one section so that we can later allow it to grow naturally. If one particular game or topic is dominating the discussion, it can get a new section.

 

Other Games Discussions
> Xbox General
> Playstation General
> PC Gaming General
> Other Gaming

Those are the most frequent used sections in OGD and will be more active once xbox one and playstation 4 releases. All other topics in that section are either misplaced or inactive.

Xbox clans, screenshots and videos can be compressed into xbox general as they're inactive and will most likely stay inactive.

There's not a place for PlayStation which should be added due to the upcoming release and pc gaming (wow - diablo - etc) is just as inactive as the others. It can all be compressed down to 3-4 sections to increase activity.

 

I would like some more input before I go ahead and pool the various ideas. Thanks for the input on the situation so far folks .

 

I like this idea. Everything is simplified and less cluttered in my opinion.

 

Ye a bit less cluttered id say also. Also makes sections look a bit more active than they are.

 

Agree with -Ryan; LoL should have it's own section as shown, and should be the at the top of said section. May seem biased coming from me, but it's far more active/promising than all the other sections involved.

I believe it should be above Live-Streaming aswell, considering the activity and participatory rates in comparison of these two sections.

So:

• League Of Legends
• Live-Streaming
  
  (May be beneficial having it this way aswell, considering LoL is the highest viewed/streamed game at current.)

• WoW
• Xbox
• Playstation
• Minecraft

I'm not sure if overlay headers such as 'Console Gaming' and 'Handheld Gaming' are needed; as stand alone, those names, (i.e Playstation) are omnipotent enough.

 

So where would I go to discuss PC gaming?
I think those sections are too specific.

Well then, I guess overheads may be needed. However, don't subhead forums such as LoL and WoW. They don't need it, and carry the weight of other sections.

 

The actual discussion is not nearly as active as the market. All of these need to be compressed into the above; 1. Making it easier to maintain for mods and 2. opening it up for more activity.

 

By this I'm assuming you mean condensing everything down in to one forum? If so, that's probably the most logical option.

 

Yes. Keep it a seperate category so there is room to expand (and there's really no other place for it) and make it just one section. Then, as needed, expand it. We may wish to keep LoL however, since that seems decently active.

 

Totally agree. If Sythe wants to expand anymore then it has to move onto other bigger & better games than rs like LoL. The way you (sellerman) has it layed out is perfect IMO. Also, don't even include POE section if you guys are going to revamp the other games section, it's dead and useless.

 

We had this before and it didn't work and makes no sense. Games come out on various platforms. So where can I talk about Call of Duty? In all the sections? It makes no sense and divides up topics so no one sees them and no one posts in them.
