Glad to see this thread has taken off. Quite a few additions to my to watch list :)

For whoever mentioned SAO, tis epic. I'm really enjoying Attack on Titan at the moment too.

At the moment I'm watching Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou. It's kinda cheesy, but pretty hilarious. Would recommend watching.

I'd like to bump this thread, and add a new discussion topic to it.

What type of anime do you guys prefer? I'm the weirdo that watches Ecchi/Harem, so you guys should feel brave enough to post whatever you watch below me now :p

How does ecchi/harem relate to the new discussion question? And yes, I am aware of what ecchi is. Not quite sure about harem but for heaven's sakes don't go explaining each one into detail.

I was just wondering what genre of anime is more popular? Ecchi and Harem are genre of Anime. Kinda like action or drama.

Harem is simply when more than 2 girls fall in love with the main character. Nothing too perverted, I'm not a freak ;P.

Finished watching Code Geass for the first time about 20 minutes ago (the 20 minutes ago is when I started typing this post, as of this edit it has been 2 hours or so), figured I should give it a chance since everyone seems to list it as a must-watch. Normally not a fan of dubbing, the One Piece 4kids dub ruined it (however many years ago that was.. I still try to give dubs a chance, watching the first episode before making my decision), but it actually sounded great. Although I don't really like Johnny as Ichigo, it shockingly works as Lelouch. The ending, of course, was fantastic, but somewhat expected.

Right before that, about a week ago, I watched Cowboy Bebop for the first time. I remember seeing an episode on Toonami several years ago involving a poker chip, so some nostalgia was in place when I came across that episode again. It certainly wasn't bad, but I can't say it quite lived up to what everyone said. I can't place Cowboy Bebop in my top three, but it will earn a spot in the top 6.

As for Death Note.. I watched it several months ago, choosing to watch the dubbed version. I loved it up until episode 25, although I did continue to watch until the end. I can't really say I enjoyed the ending, personally I feel it would have been better if L was present. Everything up to episode 25 was great, after that it went downhill as the war between Kira and L was destroyed, the "war" between L's replacements and Kira wasn't quite as good, I'm afraid. Still earns a spot somewhere on my list, for the majority being great.

Inuyasha.. Half-demon with dog ears running around feudal Japan with a reincarnation of his ex-girlfriend.. how could this possibly go wrong. Although the story itself was alright, it was dragged on far too long, constantly introducing something new to force the story to continue. The dub was pretty... bad, to say the least. While Richard does a fairly amusing version of Inuyasha, Monica (for the original series) and Kira (for The Final Act) do pitiful versions of Kagome. One delivers no emotion to the role and the other brings a Barbie-esque voice. At least the original cast was consistent and sounded great. Doesn't really rank on my list of favorites, but I did enjoy small parts of it.

One Piece.. The one anime that will never be dubbed properly. 4kids failed at it and Funimation currently fails at it (at least Funimation stopped cutting as much as 4kids did, but the voices still suck). Decided to give it a chance with the original cast and subs earlier this year, watched up until the Timeskip, after that I started reading the manga. The anime has a ton of filler arcs, not nearly as bad as Bleach, but still has some epic arcs (dat Whitebeard War saga).

Bleach.. how can they manage to put so much filler in one anime? After the rescue of Rukia, the series manages to go downhill rapidly. The current arc is actually decent when compared with its predecessors, although Kubo's constant changing of the story is amusing to say the least.

DBZ.. First episode I watched was when Vegeta died. I had no idea who he was (I was 8 when I saw it) so his death had no meaning to me. Suddenly out of nowhere, kids blowing up, glowing beams being shot around, and a dude with a golden aura. Shit was fantastic to my younger self. Not so much when I finally decided to finish the series several years later.

Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I actually enjoyed both versions when I first watched them. Both had their own unique take on the same manga, both had their highs and their lows, and both had those feely moments. I can't really pick a favorite between the two.

And then there is the first anime I ever watched, s-CRY-ed. It was on Toonami several years ago and I caught a couple episodes when flipping through channels. When looking back at it, it really wasn't that great of a series, but a young me was hooked, just like I was with DBZ shortly after. Earns a spot on my list for being what introduced me to anime.

Watch the first episode of Ghost in the Shell: Arise yesterday.

Liking it alot better than SAC, plus it contains homages to the original film, and SAC (Tachikoma's, though not as heavy thank fuck).

Looks like it could be a good series.

Haven't seen the series, going to put it on my list though.

    You should finish it :)

I've recently rewatched Monster, which Superman recommended earlier in this thread - and I must say it's a masterpiece. If anyone knows anything similar, along the psychological thriller lines, do tell :)

Im still catching up on fairy tail but my favorite thus far have been code geass and angel beats. Trinity Blood and Trigun are another two that are good if you haven't seen them already. Samurai Champloo is another one, short but sweet.

    Time to revive this thread.

Just finished season 1 of Darker Than Black - it's the best anime I've seen in some time. It's a scifi mystery kind of thing.

I'd recommend Psycho Pass too. It's a police thriller set in a futuristic fascist Japan with a second season, movie, and remake of the first season on its way.

Gankutsuou - I found the art styles in this really interesting and the story wasn't bad

Something a bit different - Silver Spoon. A nice relaxing slice of life comedy in a unique setting.
