Ranks Change

I agree the runescape related ranks have to go they're hideous, the 5 dollar donor rank makes me want to vomit, it's the worst one.

 

I would hate them to change. I like the fact we have something 'older' still a part of Sythe. Upgrading everything every so many years is pointless. Sythe is mainly RS based, and always has been.

 

I think looking into the future, I don't think we shoudl keep all our eggs in one basket so to say.

Generally change is opposed especially by those who have been around something for long enough to be "used to it". On that note I think looking into Sythe's future if we are to grow we're going to have to expand to more than just the Runescape market. I realize we need to remember where our roots are, but I see no reason as to why we couldn't have some more generalized ranks. Maybe even in the user center we could allow people to choose from a RS related or a general one.

 

and that mentality will be this sites downfall.


i never understood why mark/community/etc mod ranks where all runescape related items myself. i think world of warcraft/games mod ( both of which i believe are removed as i don't see any mod with them) where the only diff ones.

like srsly.. craigslist of virtual goods, yet it's like we are mainly rooonscap well what you gnna do when roonscap dies m9 u jst gnna let the site die?

its comin to a end and mind aswell start branching out, hell ive been trying to help to no avail... i already know plnta of elderfags that are leaving this site to pursue other market/community sites just because they cater to a broader audicency and nut sum fagscap teenies

 

On a side note though I do not agree with having all donator ranks the same generalized rank. I still think we should have separate ranks to distinguish ourselves for what we have contributed.

A chart less than one year old with barely a huge fluctuation is no indication RS is dying...

Runescape still has alot of time left its a multi million dollar company.

 

compared to 2 years ago actively 150k+ online at most times.. yea the game is pretty much dead....

even if RS becomes the smallest part of Sythe, it's still where it came from and what made it, why take everything original away. Upgrading ranks isn't going to bring in more people/donations. People donate for trust, whether it's an image they like or not.

 

Roary is a faggot. OT: Ranks are fine, they are supposed to be RS based as thats the majority of the sythe market. And Sythe was pretty much based off RS markets -,-.

 

am i mistaken or is this thread also about mod ranks? atleast thats how i read it.. i dont undertstand why all the mod ranks are rs related when the section thats being modded isn't even rs related.

 

I'd like to point out the inflation in players only occurred with the release of Old School Runescape - and it's slowly declined to an average of 50-60k players online at any time (across BOTH games)

If you've played Runescape prior to EOC or in 2011/2010 you'd realize there is a DRASTIC difference in population between now and then - in the hundreds of thousands of players.

The online population of Runescape at any given time is 50%-25% of what it was in just 2010&2011

Current average for the last two months is ~50k TOTAL PLAYERS.

These numbers all indicate a decline in popularity (this means the game is dying i.e. losing player population)

On the upside, when Runescape eventually reaches player levels in the ten thousands, aka rock bottom, the current RS ranks used on Sythe would no longer be a representation of the most active market section, but rather a homage to a once great game - giving visitors a feeling of nostalgia with every mod/donator post.

 

I'd agree with an update, and a move away from basing everything on RuneScape. The problem would be finding a suitable set of icons for each rank, to have some sort of flow / similarity between icons. Ranks with a variety of different images in different mediums (e.g pixel art icons, 3d graphics, clip art) look ugly and unprofessional.

Perhaps we could hold a rank re-design competition, for someone to recreate all the current ranks in a modern / professional style, with a reward of a fun rank or something.

 

The current ranks are known for their icon-upgrade levels, for example the two whips to D claws, to easter eggs,masks etc. It would be hard to find a "universal" ranking images that everyone knows.

 

But it still is mainly RS based...?
