Need of help, how do you make a good first impression, when introducing yourself at college/classes? Just nervous starting college to begin with and just not knowing anybody just makes the matter even worse...

Just be yourself, act naturally and show them what sort of personality you have. Mo-one goes through life without being disliked by anyone but still be yourself and be polite or nice. It also helps to ask people about themselves because people just love to talk about themselves.

I would say that make friends the first day. Not knowing anyone in the class is really awkward and it sucks if you have a group project and you're that one person without a partner or a group and have to join another. Just introduce yourself to others. People don't bite. (most don't)

Best way to make a good impression is to show up to class on time the first day and bring any requested/required materials to class. Keep your cell phone at home/dorm or turned off, and participate in discussions/events within the class.

Depending on your situation, you may also want to pay a visit to your Professors (if available) when you need help with something inparticular. Showing initiative in wanting to learn is very big for some Professors, even if you're not the best student in the class.

Good luck in College. Don't be nervous. :)

It depends. If you want to make an academic impression pertaining to your tutors/professors, then being assiduous relative to lecture notes/tute work/punctuality and overall participation would be your best route.

However, if you're more so wanting to make friends, have fun, the whole 9 yards, then just being yourself, engaging in conversations when possible and being outgoing is all you need. This doesn't mean you neglect your studies, just remember, keep a balance. Lastly, most first year subjects are quite easy going, and are generally purposely set as so, as it allows students to integrate more easily and make friends etc; not having to stress about work.

I wouldn't visit your professors, mainly because similar to students, they do not care much about kiss-asses. Making an appearance if you wish to request something is a different situation than going unscheduled just to make "friends" with them.

As for making friends, everyone above is accurate. All you have to do is be yourself and you will attract friends. You never want to act as someone else and associate yourself with people that frustrate you.

I wouldn't worry about it to be honest with you at college you're there simply for yourself and it's not like highschool people's maturity level is usually different as well.

I personally think that everything in life these days comes down to how you present yourself. Appearance wise, get a hair cut, shave (if you need too lol) and dress smart. But most importantly, be yourself! There is nothing worse than being friends with people who don't like for you!

also, you're there to learn. Make sure your first priority is your college work. :)

Be you, as cliche and bad as it may sound, you want to end up with a group of people who're similar to you or suit your personality rather than a group you pretended to fit in with. Of course, don't group away though - but you know what I mean.. your best friends will be most similar.

Don't shy away, relax and be yourself.
